Someone was talking to me the other day about movie theaters in Taipei where you can see a movie that’s been out for a while for a lot cheaper. We have those back home, and I didn’t ever think about here, until I was told.
They were saying that you could see a movie for about NT$50-$100…
Got any info?
It is really cheaper.

The one I go to is 60nt for 2 back-to-back movies.
Those theaters are all over the place, and every movie eventually makes it into them, so I rarely go to a “regular” theater unless I really want to see a movie in all it’s glory.
Sure the sound’s not as great, seats as new or screen as big, but for the price it’s a fantastic deal.
There’s always 8 movies being rotated so there’s no lack of choice.
That one (Yu4cheng2) closed a long time ago, after Typhoon Nari.
We sometimes go to Nanshan, behind the Tonghua St. night market.
Oops,I didn’t notice that one is closed.
Nanshan is the well- known and is the one I go often.
Does anyone go to the Xizhi one? (汐止巨夏戲院) Is it still open?
I always have trouble navigating in Xizhi and don’t have any good maps of the roads there, so I’m not sure how to find it, despite the tiny map on that website. Has anyone got a good digital map (Pinyin or Chinese char’s)? Or directions from either Donghu or the Xizhi Costco to the Xizhi train station? :help:
Apparently some of those theaters have a deal where you pay like 100nt and get to watch all the movies you want in 1 day. Not sure which ones though.
At Nanshan you can pay once, and see more than one flick.
Between the films you can go get something to eat in the night market.
mei li hwa in yung ho is great. i always used to grab a sao wei ma and a lemon tea out front and enjoy two movies in a clean theater for 100NT. oh the days!
The name in English is the Dynasty Theater and the address No. 136, Min¬uan West Road, Taibei City, and it has a website at www.dynasty-theater.com
It’s pretty close to the Min-Chuan MRT station. Just walk out of the station and turn left and walk over to a pedestrian overpass. Climb over to the other side of the same street on Min-Chuan and walk down until you you hit a corner. It’s beside a big massage parlor place. 
I’ve taken the address found in the second post and have begun translating into English / Pinyin

Great idea, thanks! But please remove the Yucheng listing. As I’ve posted previously, they closed permanently after Typhoon Nari, years ago.

Dynasty Theater halted operations in May 2020 for a three-month renovation. In December of that year, it said services would not resume “until things change for the better.”
Located in Datong District, Dynasty Theater opened in 1991 as a first-run theater before transforming into a second-run theater. Movie tickets were priced between NT$65 (US$2.12) and NT$130
