For me:

Your Obama Tax Cut:
$480.98

This is $456.11 more than the $24.87 cut you will get from McCain.

If true, I finally have heat this winter, Hoo WHoo :discodance:

Pure folly. BS straight outta fantasyland.

Anyone who believes this ‘economic plan’ deserves what theu\y won’t get.
Whty should I give money to someone who doesn;t deserve it? Its my money…I worked for it.

Friggin Bread & Circus crap.

Obamas Tax Plan - Penn and Teller comment

“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more…isn’t it?”

It’s pretty straight-forward:

Whatever…Obama or McCain, taxes are going to get raised period. Now WHOSE taxes is the more important question/issue here. I, for one, do not care to have mine raised since I had nothing to do with the failing of banks and the mortgage crisis. I do not care to have cover the asses of a bunch of greedy asses because one house for them wasn’t enough. Or because they wanted bigger, better, and whatever else goes running thru their minds before they make such decisions with other people’s money.

Look and see,TC, the GOP is going to protect those who put the American economy in the ditch . The one you are safe from, watching from AFAR, the one that isn’t impacting you on a day to day basis right now. I bet you’d be singing a WHOLE other tune if you were facing having to pay $3.50 for several gallons of gas, looking at a mortgage with property taxes on the rise, a check that isn’t buying what it used at the stores 8 years ago, and your retirement plan shrinking. Oh and did I mention the tight belt that HMO/PPOs and other health companies are using on people who are seeking health care? Nope, you’ve got NHI.

Talk to the :hand:

Its not “whatever”.

When taxes are raised, revenues will most likely fall. If you (or anyone) rely/ies on any services funded by taxes, how does it benefit you/anyone to tax the wealthy more so that tax revenues fall?

Are you super-rich? No? Then you won’t be giving any more money than you already do.

Trickle-down bullshit. Did the Reagan administration produce more revenue? Has Bush’s?

Did you actually LOOK at the numbers posted above? McCain’s “breaks” are practically ONLY for the mega-rich, and the little guys get practically nothing at all, whereas Obama’s plan does exactly the opposite. Big breaks for the little guy, with big increases (reversing nasty trends under the Bush administration) at the very top. How can anyone look at the comparison given and say that McCain’s plan is better? Basically it’s the same old Republican line: help the ones who need it least and screw those who need it mos (err, helping, not screwing!)

And incidentally, we have seen big economic surges under every Democratic president with the exception of Carter since WW2, mainly for the very same reason - putting money back in the pocket of lower and middle class gets churned straight back into the economy. In the words of Frank Capra, they’re the ones who do most of the living and spending and working and dying around here.

because increasing tax for the high earners will actually decrease tax revenue

sometimes i wonder if dem supporters run businesses at all…tax cuts under repub admins usually take awhile to go through the entire economy, and sometimes the resulting growth period occurs when a dem is president.

…something Clinton proved wrong empirically by raising taxes on the rich.

…something Clinton proved wrong empirically by raising taxes on the rich.[/quote]

which is because the economy was growing due to tax cuts by the previous admins :sunglasses:

and how would u like it if ur business will be going out of business due to tax dollars going into Obama’s welfare state? (see his record as state senator)

If my business were making a loss, I wouldn’t be paying any taxes. Indeed, I can write off the losses (some may even call that a form of welfare or socialism!). Taxes are on profits. If I were paying a lot in taxes, it would mean I’d be raking in hella profits.

And “welfare state” you say? I’m at a loss for words…

I’ve head this before. It’s bogus. Reagan/Bush led to recession. Clinton brought us out and gave us eight years of prosperity.

 You’re not a plumber, are you?

You seem to have difficulty with economic concepts. Let me help clear things up for you.

Right now, the US economy is completely screwed, and it had nothing at all to do with a Democrat admin, and everything to do with an ideologically driven bunch of crooks. Your man Bush has spectacularly re-routed billions from the public purse into the hands of a few greedy fuckers and now he’s socialised billions in debt. Way to go!

More of the same? Ha! The American people can’t afford it, let alone tolerate it.

I’m not seeing how it’s benefiting me when the poor and middle class are being taxed to the point of being squeezed out of their properties, school districts, and health benefits. Again, you’re seeing this from A FAR…

guess who tried to stop housing regulation years ago…the dems

guess who had the most to do with giving housing to people who couldn’t afford it, then allowing wall street to build derivatives around mortgages…bill clinton

i used to be for dems, because the media seemed to show that the repubs were screwing things up, and it was the easy thing to do, but then i started looking into things.

Obama at home with highest sales tax in U.S.

“As of today Chicago has highest sales tax in the nation,” the IL GOP writes today. “Fight for increase led by Obama’s pick for Cook County Board President…”

And the IL GOP makes some great points on Barack Obama’s hometown’s latest development:

CHICAGO - The Illinois Republican Party today is asking the American people to take a glimpse into what America will be like under a Barack Obama presidency, as Chicago today claims the highest sales tax in the country.

Much like Barack Obama will do if elected president, Obama’s pick for Cook County Board President, Todd Stroger, fought vigorously to ensure Chicago became the highest taxed city in the nation.

“Barack Obama’s vision for America is playing out daily in his hometown, especially when it comes to tax policy,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna. “With a struggling economy, this is not the kind of change Americans need.”

Under Barack Obama’s plan for America he would:

  • Double the capital gains tax
  • Double the dividend tax
  • Raise the top tax bracket to nearly 40%
  • Raise the cap on the payroll tax

“It’s pretty clear that Barack Obama’s friends like Todd Stroger are giving a glimpse into what life will be like under an Obama presidency,” said McKenna. “I have to believe if Senator Obama felt differently he would have spoken against this tax increase.”

“How can we expect Barack Obama to bring change to Washington if he cannot bring change to Illinois?”

BACKGROUND

Obama Voted In Favor Of The Democrats’ FY 2009 Budget, Which Would Raise Tax Rates For Americans Earning $31,850 Or More:

Obama Voted Twice In Favor Of The Democrats’ FY 2009 Budget Resolution.(S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #85, Adopted 51-44: R 2-43; D 47-1; I 2-0, 3/14/08, Obama Voted Yea; S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #142: Adopted 48- 45: R 2- 44; D 44- 1; I 2-0, 6/4/08, Obama Voted Yea)

The Democrats’ Budget Would Raise Taxes On Individuals Earning $31,850 Or More. “Under both Democratic plans, tax rates would increase by 3 percentage points for each of the 25 percent, 28 percent and 33 percent brackets. At present, the 25 percent bracket begins at $31,850 for individuals and $63,700 for married couples. The 35 percent bracket on incomes over $349,700 would jump to 39.6 percent.” (Andrew Taylor, “Presidential Hopefuls To Vote On Budget,” The Associated Press, 3/13/08)

NOTE: Obama’s Vote For The Democrats’ Budget Is At Odds With His Rhetoric On The Campaign Trail, Where He Claims He’ll Provide Tax Relief For Working Americans. Obama: “I’ll give a tax cut to working people …”(Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At A Campaign Rally, Denver, CO, 1/30/08)
