Chen Shui Bian just discarded the Five No's

In his speech to the TI/er lobby Formosan Association for Public Affairs yesterday, Chen proposed “Four Yeses and One No.”

They are:

 • Yes to Taiwan independence
 • Yes to name rectification
 • Yes to a new constitution
 • Yes to “development”
 • Taiwan has no leftist or rightist paths, but only has the single problem of unification or independence

He also said Taiwan will join the UN using the name Taiwan and that it is time to call forth a new constitution.

For reference, recall the Five No’s were:

 • No declaration of independence
 • No change of the national title
 • No push to put the two-states theory into the constitution
 • No push for a unification/independence referendum that might affect the status quo
 • There is no question of abolishing the National Unification Council and the National Unification Guidelines

By law, his hands are tied. On the other hand, since when does CSB obey the law, especially when he is calling for the abolishment of the current constitution. One of the No’s was already discarded last year, of course, so while nothing that comes out of CSB’s mouth can be trusted, this may not be idle talk. Let us see where this goes.

I wonder how you’ll react if I aimed 900 ballistic missiles at your home, Zeugmite.

At least he shows them he has balls …

I’ll be putting on my red T-shirt tomorrow. I’ve truly had it up to here with CSB.

If a lady says “no,” she means “maybe.”
If a lady says “maybe,” she means “yes.”
If a lady says “yes,” she is no lady.

If a diplomat says “yes,” he means “maybe.”
If a diplomat says “maybe,” he means “no.”
If a diplomat says “no,” he is no diplomat.

But what about the four That’ll Do Rightlies and the six But He Did It Firsts?

I wouldn’t be begging you to aim more at me or be goading you to shoot them all in my face now, that’s for sure. lol

Finally, after nearly eight years, Chen gets to be the president he always dreamed of being…that is to say, the kind of president he spent a great deal of time and energy convincing the moderate portion of the electorate he wouldn’t be so that they would still vote for him.

Being at the dinner last night, my jaw dropped after hearing what CSB annouced…in a sense it is good to finally hear what he sought out to do in the first place, but in all honesty I don’t think he has enough time in office to actually make this happen. Its a step foward for T.I but I guess with all the name changing that was the semi build up to the annoucement, it’s something that has the PRC and the Media having a feild day, i’d like to see the outcome or at least what happens in the next little while

OMG!!! Chen’s a lying duplicious scumbag! Who knew?

When I was a kid the Rooskies had 2,000 nuclear missiles pointed at an Air Force base about a mile from my house. I was always polite but firm with the Russian sailors who used to come ashore in Killybegs. Just in case, y’know.

But damage the stock market.

But damage the stock market. :noway:

But damage the stock market. :noway:
Did he also managed to damage all the rest of the Asian and European ones? Or was it just coincidence…

So, what is the problem of calling Taiwan, Taiwan? I don’t see any… Seriously, they should put an automated system to change the word “Taiwan” to “Republic of China, a.k.a as Taiwan, Province of China, a.k.a Taiwan, a.k.a. Formosa”. Then, I guess everyone would be happy no?

or maybe is no’s are:

No, I don’t like Republic of China
No, I don’t like Chinese Taipei
No, I don’t like the CCP
No, I don’t like the KMT
No, I cannot live without my wife…

Uncharacteristically quick response from China

and mr_boogie at least this reporter does attribute stock market losses to Chens comments.
Chen’s speech on Sunday depressed Taiwan markets. The main TAIEX stock index closed down 3.74 percent on Monday and the Taiwan dollar weakened to 32.915 against the dollar by early afternoon local time.

Here is another view…

It is incredible is that it managed to fell less than in Hong Kong, where it fell about 4%. And if we kind of go looking at last week, the Taiex wasn’t exactly fabulous either.

Watching Sisy’s World News at the moment. They are pissed off in China!
