Has anyone been to Chiang Mai or to any of the islands around there?
I would like to take off for a few weeks but the regular spots are just too hot this time of the year. I guess because it is is the North the weather would be cooler. Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

Even though it is in the north of Thailand Chiang Mai is still extremely hot at this time of the year. Temperatures would be in the high 30’s. It cools of a bit when the rainy season starts, usually in June.
And the only islands you are likely to find around Chiang Mai are in the Mekong River. It is about 700 kms from the nearest beach.
