Believe it or not, I just ate a deep dish pizza as good as what you can get in Uni’s in Chicago at a restaurant in Taipei.
Is their many pizza restaurants that does deep dish?

No. Where was it?
I’m biting. Where is it?
I hope you’re not trying to publicise some pizzeria you have a stake in/know the owners of, though. That always ends up as a real mess. If you don’t have any involvement with the restaurant in question, do please tell us.
? a deep dish and pitcher of wheat beer.
No fuckin’ way, youse got a slice of pie that good. Pffft.
Describe.
A friend of mine from Las Vegas who used to have a DD pizza joint in Las Vegas made it for me and my wife and my father in laws restaurant. He has been trying to get his pans sent to him here in Taiwan. He is thinking of opening a restaurant when he gets his stuff sent here. He was just asking me if anyone sold DD and I told him I had no idea but the good people of Forumosa whould know. So, no, I have no restaurant but he actuyally fixed me a DD with corn meal pie crust and it was delicious. I told him I had no idea if Taiwanese people ever eat anything made with corn meal because it is hard to get here and $$$.
So that is why I asked the question. If anyone knew of a place here to get DD pizza. No secret agenda.
Is that Chicago Pizza shop still open on Chienguo Rd? I’m not fond of deep-dish at all, but I’ve seen several people recommending that place over the years.
Yup. If you are at the Northeast corner of DaAn Park, it’s a block south (from the Giant bike store) and a half block east. If you want a takeaway, it’s buy-one-get-one free. That’s not a bad option for a picnic in the park.
The owner is a real character. They’ve got a lot of interesting things to look at while you wait for your pizza, and they’ve got a giant tortoise runnin’ loose in the bathroom.
That Chicago Pizza Factory (I think that’s what it’s called) by Da-an park doesn’t have what I would consider deep dish, or at least I couldn’t find it on the menu. It wasn’t much different from Pizza Hut’s pan pizza (both thickness and flavor). I was hoping for something like Giordanos in Chicago or Pizza Papalis in Detroit, but was disappointed. No corn meal as far as I remember, either.
Never been to Chi or Detroit but i think you better start downgrading your expectations
Well my friend has decided to make his Deep Dish in San Chung. He will probably advertise on here when he is up and running
He is one of the few pizza men who can actually make a good DD pizza crust without cornmeal. Anyone who has ever eaten DD it has a grainy texture like a bisquit with a hint of a butter flavor. Many people think it contains cornmeal and some pizza places in the states puts cm in the dough but real DD has no cornmeal. Its other things that give it the great flavor.
Anyway look for his spot on here. He knows pizza.
