Child in Apple Daily news yesterday..?

Hey
I have no idea where to post this…saw weird pics of a child on the front page of Apple Daily news. Seemed liks he had been abused, and had pics of tattoos (or real tattoos) all over his body?

any idea what happened here?

The child died. Apparently from too many tatoos? That’s what my boy told me… dunno how reliable his report is, though. He was watching television and told me about the report.

From what I’ve seen and experienced, the local news media is wildly inaccurate about the facts of any given story. In this case, I’m guessing that a child who happened to have a single tattoo died of a childhood disease, and it was blown up to something like “Child killed by overtattooing!” Sound about right?

about, except that the child was probably a prostitute.

Some sick tatoo fan used a 3 year old boy to practice. Why the boy died? I didn’t get myself to listen to that part cause the pics were too disturbing.

The three year old boy’s parents gave him to a friend to take care of before they both went to prision. He was severely abused and eventually died of his injuries. When he was finally taken to the hospital, doctors found that he had a number of tattoos in addition to bruises and burns all over his body. This happened last November. The ‘friend’ who murdered him was sentenced to life in prison the other day. Hence the news coverage.
Which most probably can be translated as something more or less like this:

In November of last year, a three-year-old boy in Taoyuan County was brought to live with friends as both his parents were serving time in prison. The result? The boy’s entire body was tattooed, he was cruelly abused, and after being taken to the hospital, he unfortunately passed away.
The final judgement of the court was a life sentence against the heartless man [responsible].
At the time that the boy, not quite three years old, was taken to the hospital for treatment, his entire body was covered with marks of injuries that sickened those who saw them. In particular, there were many tattoos on his body, and doctors came to understand that the boy’s caretaker, a man surnamed Zhang, would burn him with cigarettes or even tattoo him if the boy cried.
The court in its decision said that Zhang not only showed no remorse for his actions, but had used extremely cruel and inhumane means. Given that the boy’s injuries were fatal, the Court came back with the heaviest possible sentence: life in prison and perpetual revocation of civil rights.
The boy’s mother found out about this mistreatment last year, and now is gradually recovering from the news. In order to avoid upsetting her with news of the sentencing, prison officials are limiting her access to newspapers.
Although the boy’s tiny life was snuffed out before he grew up, it is hoped that this sad affair will serve as a lesson to his family.

I remember hearing about the tattooed boy last year. Sick, sick, sick.

So, killing a boy warrants a life imprisonment. But a young girl, who was beaten until brain damage, gets the father- what 7 years? (i think). Nice.

I tried to get the story off the Apple Daily site to do a comparison just for the sake of intellectual curiosity but you have to register, and I haven’t gotten my password yet, so…oh well.

Qiu xiaomei’s father got 12 years. He was drunk and the fact that she was transferred from one hospital to another may have also contributed to her death. The father also said that he was sorry for what he had done. In this case, the sentence was probably less because the judges felt that he had not intended to commit the crime, because he was not solely responsible for her death. I believe that intoxication can sometimes be a mitigating factor in sentencing in Taiwan.

But in the other case the abuse was intentional, carried out over a long period of time, and the killer did not express remorse. The disparity probably makes sense from a legal point of view, and I don’t think it was gender related

Okay, I can accept that fact. Still, this is a ‘man’s world’(Asia) and I still will believe that female life is valued less than a males.

Thanks for the information

This is a terrible story :frowning:

RIP to the poor little guy :frowning:

Wow, intoxication should be the main reason why people get sentenced for life…not be used as an excuse. Uhh…sorry I didn’t know drinking affects my body…
doesn’t cut it at all.
