Children's Literature Expert and Author to Speak at Eslite

What makes a picture book truly great? What do great picture books
have in common? This presentation and discussion will look closely
at the words and images in some of the most outstanding picture
books ever written in English, from timeless classics to
contemporary award winners. Based on these models, we will learn
some creative exercises to help us aim for greatness ourselves—or
at least rise to the next level.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Lisa Rowe Fraustino, a former SCBWI Regional Advisor, is
currently an American Fulbright Scholar to Mahasarakham University
in Thailand. She has published both scholarly and creative work in a
wide range of genres for all ages, including an ALA Notable picture
book, The Hickory Chair, and an ALA Best Book for Young Adults, Ash:
A Novel. In the U.S. she teaches at Eastern Connecticut State
University and at Hollins University’s Graduate Program in
Children’s Literature.
