I have a number of Taiwanese colleagues and friends who are based in Beijing, who get various nasal and skin allergies when they come back to Taipei for business trips, that then disappear again on return to the mainland.

i’ve heard the exact opposite. they would even use bottled water for bathing in china. but everyone’s different i guess. i wouldn’t give too much about that 過敏 stuff, imo it’s mostly psychosomatic. otherwise, if really perceived 50% of the tw population is allergic to something, that should be a case for the WHO
