China's Population Decline is Da Bomb

For example in China only 30% of the working population has high school or above education

well, but this wouldn’t really be a problem if the population wasn’t declining!

some years ago the party passed a law making it expressly the responsibility of children to support the parents. socialism with chinese characteristics!

those resources aren’t limitless, they can’t keep spending on the military and floating state-owned enterprises and continue to ignore social safety nets indefinitely. they CAN make changes but with limited time and money they eventually have to make successful changes, right?

It would be, it’s the same problem. I’m saying it’s not just a problem of ageing population. That’s not the main problem

Thirty million Chinese still live in caves.

They are making absolutely drastic changes right now and we will just have to say if they work. Again I think they are suffering from similar levels of hubris as the US in the late 90s. From Beijing’s perspective, they have basically been hitting nothing but net for two decades and are high on their own supply.

We will just have to see. Recommend again checking out recent Sinica podcast on what calling the ‘Red New Deal’

no, we will just have to see.

yes

I don’t care what kinds of adjustments they WILL make. Nothing but bodies will fill the jobs and create the demand for stuff now. Either you import millions more workers and pay them slave wages or continue to enslave your own population. Telling CCP members to shoot out babies will do nada in the short term. Na…da. Even robots won’t help. They don’t watch Netflix and chill.

All of Asia is going going to hit this wall of birthrate because they are so monocultural and not accepting of immigration and they are so xenophobic. So it is fitting and I don’t feel sorry for them. They will let their economies go into the abyss before letting foreigners becoming citizens. That’s why USA and Canada are doing so well since they import foreign talent so well

Right, they do it well at the top for skilled workers, and could easily improve it. At the bottom, well, we have Mexico and a hands off policy.

Nice look back:

What a bunch of hyperbolic naval gazing that was. “It’s really fucked up, but give Xi a few more years to pull a rabbit out of his hat.” gtfooh

Well you seem to get very upset by it

You seem to get upset by anything that doesn’t confirm your favored position. Everyone does this to an extent, I suppose but interesting. Really is just a mirror of the Chinese nationalists and the way they discuss things, like they are supporting a sports team. They are as certain by US decline and get as sensitive by anything that runs slightly counter to that.

Naval Gazing = discussion or nuance

You’re extremely predictable. My emotions don’t much figure into this discussion. So, unless you wanna talk about China’s OBVIOUS demographic travails, spam someone else with your deflections.

:slightly_smiling_face:

Once you have citizenship you have political power, they don’t want foreigners who are not born in these countries to have any say in their politics. Unfortunately true, but its a big dilemma.

Well said, they’d rather drive themselves into a ditch than give you power to vote. They are just trying to preserve as much homogeny as possible.
