Chinese Taipei flag at Nanjing E Rd stadium

Has anyone noticed that at the sports stadium there are flags printed on a backdrop three high around the back of the seating area? The flag for Chinese Taipei just so happens to be easily accessible immediately behind the back seat (on the east side of the stadium).

I’m surprised no one has gone along with some super powerful glue or tape and stuck an ROC flag on top. It would be very easy. Not that I’d condone that kind of behaviour of course.

It’s the closing ceremony today, apparently.

The other day I saw people wildly waving big ROC flags at one event. Nobody stopped them.

I often see Chinese tourists waving the Chinese flag in Taiwan. I wonder what would happen if a Taiwanese waved our glorious flag in China.
Since it seems to be illegal in Taiwan to wave a Taiwan flag in Taiwan while a Chinese diplomat is visiting, you would most likely have a big problem; possibly to the extent that you should kiss your ass goodbye.
What has Harvard Law School taught in regard to freedom of speech and expression. Maybe somebody was asleep in that class.
Time to pack my bags?

No, you shouldn’t be the ones packing your bags :fume:

Yeah but at the end of the day, and if history is any indicator, we’ll still be the ones packing our bags. Generally as long as Taiwan serves a function everyone will approve this, and some like Jerome Cohen might comment with subtle disapproval but end with how corruption and what-have-you has been defeated and praise the government anyway.

By the way, I was a student at NYU. It irks me to think that Jerome Cohen is less than 1000 meters from me most days of the week. Either he’s some sort of idiot or he can easily see what his one-time-student is doing.
