I know it’s still over a month away but does anyone know if Christmas trees (fake or real) and decorations are hard to find?
I remember it being really tough to find those in China when I was living there and have no idea if it’s any different here.
If all else fails, I could always steal the tree from the local Subway (it’s been there for months).
I’d like to know where I can get non-secular (profane) Christmas decorations. I’d like a new creche, and I always think a few herald angels look nice on the tree… :candycane:
hi…costco has christmas trees…fake ofcourse, but nonetheless they’re there, and they have an assortment of decorations…some to go on the tree, some for around the house. That’s the only place i’ve seen any.
I guess it may be a little easier to find the decorations closer to Christmas though I’ll start having a look in the next few weeks.
Incidently, what is with the Taiwanese and Christmas decorations at the wrong time of year? When I was house-hunting, I noticed quite a few people decorated their front doors with Christmas lights and/or wreaths. :s
Many of the stationery stores and book stores that sell just about everything will put out some small to 6 foot fake Christmas trees in the next 2-3 weeks. I don’t think you will have any trouble spotting these as they tend to stick them out near the sidewalk to say, “Look at me. I know about Christmas.” I think I paid about 300 NT for a 4 footer several years ago. Packages of decorations will be found inside, usually on the upper floors of the store. Not really hard to find items. I will also keep looking downtown and post information when I see them if someone doesn’t get there first.
ChangAn West rd, parallel of ZhongXiao and Nanjing, has a number of party shops. They start to sell xmas right after halloween. The selection is pretty good. Totally check it out. It’s near ChangAn-Taiyuan crossroads.

Try Campus Books. Go to Gonguan MRT, exit at the NTU exit and look across the road (sorry I can’t be more specific, I guess it’s Roosevelt Rd.)
It’s a Christian bookshop and the basement is an outlet selling everything Christmas from cards to trees. It’s Taiwan so there’s some cutesy stuff, but it’s more devotional, traditional and serious and less commercial than most.
In Tian Mou, there is one shop on De Xing West Rd, next to thye MRT-Line and one on Chung Shan N. Rd. Sec. 6, between Shi Dong Rd. and De Xing. That only sells Xmas-deco … you cant miss it, I think it’s called “Mr. Christmas”
It might be Mr. Xmas, I walked by it today, in fact. It’s No. 296 Zhongshan N. Rd., pretty close to Shidong, on the right side as you’re walking from Dexing toward Shidong. They had tons of artificial trees and lots of sparkly decorations. Almost made me feel like buying some, but then I thought about what the cat would do while I’m not home and decided best not to.
