Cihl 07-08

Well, your old pal Toe Save has finally put his money where his mouth is and dropped 50 large on some goalie gear. And last night, I hit the ice for the 1st time in 7-8 years. Unfortunately, my dinner also hit the ice as I gurfed about 30 minutes into the session. Mmmm-mmmm…Regurgitated Big Mac on ice. Not a pretty sight. It did keep those pesky skaters outta the crease tho… So, for the time being, I need to change my screen name to Ralph. Never shoulda watched On Any Given Sunday before the session.

Yup, a real lesson in motivation. The wake up call I direly needed. On the plus side, it is great to feel the pangs of puck bruises this morning. Gawd I’ve missed that. My left shoulder is stiffening up nicely as I took a slapshot up high. Fortunately, my face slowed it down or I’d be in some real pain. A nice belly bruise and a dull throb in my lower back all scream, “I’m back baby!”

Great to meet Jaboney as well. BTW Jabs, I think you owe me 500NT for the extra ice time.

I have to say I am very impressed with the CIHL. Kiwi Geoff Le Cran of MonoClub is the shizzle. He is extremely dedicated to the organization and a fine person to get to know. I’m not just saying this cuz he gave me a stellar deal on the gear. I only wish he’d lace 'em up and come for a skate as we do need some more southern hemisphere representation on the ice…and I don’t want to be the only subject of folly in the league… :s :help: Talk about breaking in the new gear.

So, here we have it boys…a new thread for a new season. Drop the puck.

You know, I had a 300 mm lens on my camera last night, and Just Couldn’t shoot it. I should’ve, I should’ve, it’s all good on the ice, so I should’ve… but just couldn’t.

Every shot after I came in had me on the look out for flying yellowed ice. That alone justifies a pictorial post, ya big funnel.

Getting some shots again definitely feels good. I get on the ice weekly 'cause I’m coaching the kids, but nothing beats snagging a few hard blasts. Except I went out feeling stiff and left the ice limber.

Great to have the guys out from Kaohsiung for the first time last night. And we’re still looking for a few more players. If you’re on the island, you can’t be too far away.

Ah…the brotherhood of goalies. If I were a skater, I am sure you would have gotten the shot. As it were.

I guess we could call you Toe Spew.
Or maybe Toe Sieve.

Well, Spew would be more of a play on my actual name, so much funnier if you drop the Toe. Sieve won’t work in a coupla weeks. More likely to call me The Wall.

Nope, I think just plain Ralph.

I thought ‘Ralph’ was your half-deaf friend.

"RAAALLLPHPHPH!
help me.
RAAALLLPHPHPH!

Oh mommy…
“RAAALLLPHPHPH!”

I’ve never seen anyone puke so much, so hard. It’s impressive that you kept playing for a while after that. Maybe not smart, but impressive.

I’d skip McD’s before you next hit the ice.
(If only for the clean up crew.)
