You would have to ask them about their speeds. All I know is that it says ‘unlimited’ and in my experience is ok for surfing the internet and TV that is not ultra high definition.
Yea you can make local calls, but you just get a token amount of call credit. So if you were using it for making calls you would need to top up the call credit. I don’t make many phone calls so I only topped it up once in a year with 500NT extra call time. So for me it works out costing 7500 NT for the year in total.
Before Circles.Life I tried the pre-paid “Tourist” options from 大哥大 and CHT. Yeah they are both unlimited, and no speed reduction. I think 20Mbps back then, not sure now. I used them for a backup to my home internet as well. I think you can only get them up to 6 months or something and seem to remember cannot renew the CHT one since it is intended for tourists, but I forget. I only need it for data anyway, so I will look at either one of these options soon.

Just curious if anyone found a deal with a carrier comparable to Circle Life for foreigners? I live in Kaohsiung and wonder if anyone has some good recommendations on who to switch to.
With the consolidations in this industry, doesn’t seem like we have much choice. But since the FET number porting deal cannot be used by foreigner, I think Taiwan Mobile might be better. I think they also still have the free Disney+ deal

I went to Chunghua and they will only let me sign up for prepaid, because my ARC expires in under 6 months. So I can’t keep my number. Lame.
I switched to the 2099 3 months prepaid plan and I could take my number. (Actually have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if it worked).
Chunghua branches act like their own kingdoms with their own rules. If you have time, go down the street to the next Chunghua store, and try to go to a corporate location not a small store. Or just a different carrier
You can keep your number with prepaid, the number stays valid for six months after the last recharge of the card.

Originally I wanted to sign up for the FET 4G 12GB for NT$299/mo. plan as most of my bills with Circles.life were NT$266, but I was not happy with FET’s 4G speed and the two-year contract.
The transfer to the $2099 / 3 months package worked fine.
Coming up on two years, what are people doing who signed contracts that are now ending?
I went with FET for 599 a month 5g. Contract expiring and looking at other options that are not 2 year contracts.

I signed with CHT the other day: $499 5G “unlimited” (throttle to 5Mbps (tethering) / 12Mbps (non-tethering) after 24GB / 29 GB for HiNet customers). 12 month duration (it’s their 599 plan with a special discount of $100 per month).
The store employee kept telling me I should rather get the 4G plan (unlimited data at 12Mbps at $499 for 24 months).
Seems like plan deals are getting worse. A few years ago it was unlimited 4G full speed with no cap on data for $499.
Yeah… And prices look much more uniform now across the three providers. Competition between them really has died down… 
I guess once they quashed GT Telecom and T-Star Telecom, they have no reason to be competitive anymore.
