I’m just wondering if anyone on this forum knows about what the Labor Department’s rules are with regards to freelancing. Do work permits have to be applied for in exactly the same manner as working for an individual employer? Are the experience requirements the same or different? Do you have to possess a certain amount of capital?
Are there any freelance graphic designers, programmers or translators on this forum?

AFAIK you can’t get a work permit for free-lancing. You have to have a Taiwanese employer (or a Taiwan-registered foreign company).

Open up the Google search engine and put the following syntax in the search-box.[/color]

Surely freelancing=self-employed? Therefore the usual rules for setting up a local company apply, just as they would anywhere else. llary’s written some good stuff about that.
