Cloning a second MOD box?

Hello,

When my wife and I bought our house the previous owner left all of their old MOD equipment behind. When we were renovating I put all of this stuff in the basement and just forgot about it. We later had a new MOD system installed and everything is working hunky-dory.

Recently I’ve been thinking about installing this leftover MOD box on the TV in our bedroom. Does anyone know if I could copy all of the details from our new MOD box onto the left-over box, and then power down the new box whenever we want to use the left-over box in the bedroom? I’m guessing that I would need to copy the MAC address, IP address and everything else.

I know that an official second box from Chunghua only costs an extra NT$89 per month, however I don’t want to waste this left-over box if I could get it working.

Any help would be appreciated.

What’s the model of your spare MOD box? I suspect without gaining access to the OS, it’d be difficult to just “copy the MAC address.”

Just a quick update:

I didn’t take this any further and ended up giving the box to the recycling lady who hangs around in the street outside my house. I had a quick play around with the settings but couldn’t see how it could be done easily.

I think I’ll just pay the extra NT$89 if I really need a second box.
