Sorry for the newbie visa question below, I have a friend who just reassured me he’s done this 1 day visa run trip numerous times, and I won’t have any problems.
So, we can consider this closed. Thanks!
Hi,
I just want to make sure I’m clear about what I have to do on a one-day ‘visa run’ if my visa is a 5 year, multiple entry (60 days at a time) tourist visa (US passport holder)- this is for me and my child.
…
So I’m planning on buying RT air tickets from Kaohsiung to HK and come back the same day. For various reasons, I can’t take the time to stay overnight.
What do we need to do exactly?
- When we arrive in HK, we should go through customs at the airport. Do I need to provide any documentation (our return ticket to Taiwan, a return itinerary to USA, or documents regarding what we’re doing back in Taiwan)? What do I need to say?
- At customs, we get our visas ‘stamped’- so we don’t necessarily have to leave the airport?
- We go back to the customs counter at the airport when we’re ready to leave HK, right? So, again what do I need to show them? Is just the return ticket to Kaohsiung is enough?
- At the customs counter in HK airport we get stamped again, and then we just go and wait for the return flight?
Also, if my son were to do this visa run with another adult (if I’m not available to make the visa run with him since I have to go back to the US periodically), does anybody know if he’ll need some kind of certified statement from his parents about his traveling? If so, I’ll prepare these in advance from the US.
Thanks for any help, clarifications, suggestions!
