Clove Cigarettes

Where are they for sale? How much do they cost? How many lit ones can you fit into your mouth at once?

Try any of the Indonesian shops on the 2nd floor of the Taipei Train Station. Gudang Garam average between 35NT and 45NT a pack.

Ah yes, kreteks.

I met a chap here in Taiwan that was marketing (?) Sampoerno cigs. I think he said they were about to launch them mainstream here in tawan sometime soon.

I’ve found Gudang Garam in a betel nut stall on Ding Zhou. Actually look for any place where there are Indonesian workers and you’ll find them.

That Indonesian food shop on the second floor of Taipei Main is excellent BTW. Food’s alright and the company a welcome change.

Shhhhhhhh…now everyone will know where to find me!

Im an expert on where to find Gudang Garams in Taipei (don’t try that other brand - they’re awful). Here’s the deal. I’ll list all my spots, you list yours OK?

They’re getting harder to find because they used to be sold in a lot of the ‘piao ting’ ticket booths, which were all abolished by the decree of that horrible Ma Ying Jiu. Here’s the rest that I know of.

Taida/Gongguan. Next to the movie theater in alittle magazine stand.

Taida/Gongguan. Near the corner of dingzhou rd and Siyuan Rd, then back alittle towards the movie theater there’s a binlang store manned by an old guy who also sells baked potatos.

Minsheng E Rda nd Linsen Nth Rd. A binlang stall just Nth of this intersection.

Shida. On Shida Rd halfway between Watsons and Welcome is a bits and pieces store with a magazine stand in the window.

Nanjing E Rd and Songjiang Rd. Just west of this is a Subway and during the day there’s an old woman selling mags and fags outside.

Ximending. Not good with directions here, but a couple of places if you look around.

Wuchang St. Near CLD is a 7-11. Across the road is an old man selling mags and fags.

That’s about it I think. Just remember to offer me a smok if you see me. Oh yeah, there’s one in Jilong at the end of the nightmarket.

Other than to reiterate the second floor of Taipei main . . you are the Gudang man.

This is a pretty old thread so I thought I’d ask for an update. Anyone know where to get them in Kaohsiung? Are the Taipei spots still there?
