Well, English, or French, or both… but definitely not Mandarin only. Otherwise he’s stuck in Taiwan or China, working as a mechanic in a shop, or renting bikes to tourists, or salesperson for a big brand.
And that’s about it (i’m not adding engineer or skilled technician here as he does not seem to be interested in studying to be an engineer either).
Well, maybe if you’re going to be working in Japan. But you don’t really want to do that… the work culture sucks, especially for oustiders. And I thought he wanted to be a pro racer, and none of them speak Japanese (well, apart from Beppu!).

To be a bicycle racer or not to be one, that is the question.
Taiwan has about 3-4 pure sports universities. Can always attend one on the island to get a sports-related degree.
Can then ride for the national team at overseas sporting events if good enough.
