Take the words off of your favorite comic and let your students fill in the blanks. I can’t recall where I ran into this site, but it might give people new ideas of what to do with extra class time. If nothing else some of the comics the kids made are pretty funny. Check it out.
I did that once, but I quickly sketched my own pictures with empty bubbles.
The first few attempts failed because they just wrote in any old crap like, “You go die” and “You are pig” so you have to present the activity in the right way; you can’t just hand them out and expect results.
That’s my experience using comics in class anyway.
Thanks Miltownkid, those are hilarious. I was chortling away in front of the computer last night.
My favourite is the surreal “I - am - a - pen” yukihime.com/comics/paremix/ … ainbow.jpg
"Today’s Forecast is… " is also pretty funny
yukihime.com/comics/paremix/ … eather.jpg
as are “Back Home Only You” yukihime.com/comics/paremix/ … nlyyou.jpg
and “Nancy”

joesax, can you please tell me how to open these sites? When I tried to visit them, I was denied entry. What could be causing that to happen? Thanks.
Sorry Cableguy, I tried to link directly to some of the pictures on the site, but the site configuration won’t allow it. The only way is to go to this page:
yukihime.com/comics/paremix/
and then open the relevant pictures from there.
Where can I find blank comics?
Take an ordinary comic. White-out the words. Take it to the copy machine. Make copies. Presto, blank comics!
