Coming to Taiwan for a 2 week vacation. What are some good places to visit /stay

Hi everyone! I’m currently working in Korea but I’m thinking about taking a 10-14 day vacation in Taiwan in February. I will be travelling on my own and have no contacts on the ground in Taiwan to advise me on the best places to stay and visit during my time there. I really want to try and experience Taiwan to the fullest so I was hoping that some of you guys would be able to give me some tips about things to do while I am there. I would also be grateful for any information about hostels in different parts of the country. I figure that if I want to make the most of the trip, I can’t use taipei as a base.

Many thanks!

I can recommend Summer Point in Jialeshui in the very south of Taiwan if you want some R&R for a couple of days. If it’s warm anywhere in Taiwan, it will be warm there. And while Summer Point Jr. might be a little pricey, I’ve heard that Jessie and Chris (the bosses there) have just renovated Summer Point, which is their original surfers hostel. If you’ve got ten days in Taiwan, you want to travel around a bit and get a feel for the place, so I wouldn’t spend more than two days there. But two days there would be time well spent, I think. :2cents:
