Alright, here’s my situation.
I’m on the mainland. I had been planning my trip back to the U.S. starting in early October, and wanted to buy my ticket as soon as possible since airline prices are due to go up at the start of 2012. I started asking my employer when the last day of teaching for this semester would be. Finally about 3 weeks ago, they told me it would be December 30th (the semester ends on January 13th, but the last 2 weeks are spent preparing for and taking finals). So, I booked my plane ticket for the 30th leaving after 8 pm. This was confirmed with my company and the school where I teach.
I receive an email earlier today stating that the last day of teaching at this school is January 6th. I am none too pleased. :bluemad: The reason for extending the last day of my instruction is to make up classes that were missed due to the National Day holiday (even though 2 of the 5 days were already made up).
My contract with this company ends on January 20th, but I already got the go ahead from the head of the foreign teacher division of this company to purchase my airline ticket for December 30th. At the end of my contract, I am due to receive a flight reimbursement as well as my last month’s paycheck, both in cash. This was going to be done on the 30th. Of course I don’t have any of this in writing.
My class schedule is M-Th, 1 pm to 5 pm approximately (5 classes); and Friday 10 am - 2 pm (5 classes).
My plan is to go and talk to the school first about other dates to possibly make up the missed classes, such as coming in early on any day M-F. I plan to study at a university in this city next semester, although I will not be crushed if I am for some reason not able to do that. I do not plan to work for this company again, although I do believe one of the higher ups has ties to the party.
Any suggestions? I did read Baas recent thread about his situation at the Uni, although this is a bit more advanced notice for make-up dates, so I’m not sure how they related. Any help is appreciated.
