Pussygate and the current Douche:

To be fair, there’s doubt as to whether he actually wrote that book. And he seems a little embarrassed, as if he hadn’t known that was in there.

The appeal of Trump is the following. People who are his fans, or at least open to the possibility of voting for him, know that the system and country is fundamentally broken. They know that with pretty much anyone in the Republican field, as well as with Hillary, they would be screwed, because that’s what politics is; they know that these people are liars, that they hate the average American, that they’ll pander to Wall Street and start more wars and all of the rest of business as usual. Bernie was an interesting possibility (regardless of whether I may or may not have agreed with him), but he had no chance; the Democrat machine was always going to roll right over the top of him. The Republican machine was supposed to roll right over the top of Trump in the same way, except that it didn’t.

People are not stupid in this. They probably figure that there’s a fair chance that Trump is just as bad as anyone else involved in politics, that he is just as full of crap. They do actually know this, and think like this. I’ve spoken a lot with Trump supporters and they’re not naive about this issue. However, they’re just playing the odds. Even if there’s only a 1% chance that they’re not going to be screwed with Trump, they’ll take that over the 0% chance that they would have had with Jeb, Cruz or Hillary.

Further to that, they figure that if they are going to get screwed eventually, better to at least have the circus that is politics exposed for what it is. At least have some fun along the way, and Trump certainly delivers in this regard for not dutifully playing along with the game like the usual Republican cardboard cut outs and being a “serious” or “respectable” politician. That either makes Trump the biggest charlatan of them all, for winking to the audience as he still screws them, or it really does make him different. Either way though, these people are screwed, so at least they get some entertainment.

If it’s not you, then, who?

The appeal of the establishment is to the below average American.

The above average American is holding his nose and giving grudging support to the lesser evil.

The average American is something of an abstraction. US society has always been far too diverse to speak of an average.

United we stand, divided we fall… or conquer. Anyway, things are gonna get uglier no matter who wins the election. The left has been dividing to conquer since the sixties, and they’ve accidentally bred propaganda-resistant strains of reactionary rabble. (Yes, this is all documented fact now, thanks to Wikileaks.)

A run-off ballot system might have helped avert this disaster. Something to consider when we rebuild. And definitely up the checks and balances in government. That whole system worked for a while, so more of it might work even longer.

Il Douche shows off his boner.

DNA tests are not Bubba’s friend, but they might be his son’s friend:

This is truly a tabloid election, at least since Friday.

Keep it classy, girls.

Meet Wiley Mao.

A whole lot of these stories out since Friday. When the pot calls the kettle black (is that racist?) it can expect blowback.

Real fine political class we’ve got here. Just wonderful.
