Living in Taiwan, the AC that keeps blasting makes my skin so dry. I put on face lotion like at least 5 times a day but it still gets red and sensitive. It also makes it extremely painful to shave. Anyone have any advice?
Olive oil? If the face lotion contains sodium laureth sulphate or other unpronounceable chemicals, it could be contributing towards your dry skin. You only need a few drops of olive oil, and it has to be washed off thoroughly and shouldn’t touch hair. Best read about it first. Not medical advice.
I agree with HenHaoChi - natural oils will help. I used to have a problem with dry skin during British winters, but moisturizers basically made it worse. What works for me (if I ever have the misfortune of going back there at that time of year) is coconut oil. It feels greasy initially, but it’ll be quickly absorbed. You only need a little. There’s really no need to wash it off - it defeats the whole purpose of applying it in the first place. Incidentally, soap will dry your skin something terrible. Try just using hot water.
Also, you could try not shaving. I just trim (electric clippers) once or twice a week so I don’t look homeless.
Apparently in the old days they used lard as a moisturizer, but I wouldn’t recommend that.
I have argan oil and it helps a bit. Perhaps I should see a dermatologist.
you can try putting a bucket of water in the room, it would make the room less dry
with Taiwan’s humidity? no thanks
It’s largely due to the AC being on, and no I can not change the direction of the AC. My AC in my house is built in not one of those installed ones you use. The problem is, I run hot, i sweat in my sleep if my room isn’t cold. I sweat even when’s it cold. But there’s no cycle in the system so it’s either all the way on or off. So the direct air makes my skin dry.
Use moisturizer regularly. That will help you to some extent.
we have been using argan oils for multiple kind of stuff ( hair, skin …). works incredibly well.
i always import 100% argan oil directly from morocco so i do have generally a nice stock home. sell it sometimes so if you are interested i can arrange something for you.
i have a couple of liters home.
just in case

I’ve been looking for quality argan oil actually. I could find it in the states but not in Taiwan. so you sell it by the bottle?

I sell it sometimes to friends or relatives here. It is not very popular with local Taiwanese even if more and more products in cosmetic stores are advertising it with their product.
What we can do, I’ll fill you a small bottle, let you try it first then if you are happy with the quality I usually receive then I’ll sell you a good size bottle.
