Coronavirus crisis open thread - March

Problem is that as said before, the limited people that die is not that limited. We are talking potentially millions, in The Departed scenario of only 2%. If it is higher…

And in the process, the health system would still be overwhelmed. With the consequences for the economy hereby.

So slowing it down is still better than letting it run rampant. At least that way you can go on, slowly, but still moving. To pretend nothing is wrong and keep on trucking normally is delusional on the part of the governments.

To bad we’re not in movie.

Opening with scientist warns government, government screws up, scores of people die, lead scientist gets infected, hero scientist finds cure, problem solved.

Also, I didn’t say truck on as normal, but the idea that you just stop everything indefinitely (certain European countries are saying 10-12 weeks) is just insane.

But they are socially oriented and are used paying unemployment and sick leave. People will still get the money. In Belgium even self-employed will get it since a few years back.

Can you explain what kind of measures would be appropriate in your opinion?

With 6800 flights in the air around the world right now, we’re tracking 39% fewer total flights compared to last month at the same time and 43% fewer compared to 1 year ago."

I am talking about Taiwan. Lockdown in the West is a different story. It didn’t have to be like that. But now it is done. You have to open gradually, you cannot just say it will kill the old and sick, let it be. You cannot put stocks over lives.

At what point will the governments decide to cut their losses? How will they face the backlash? Who will they blame for the aftermath? What will happen when the second wave hits?

This is the new normal. We cannot just cut it off and run off. Recovery won’t be fast or pretty.

Yep, Germany thinks it will take a couple of months. Italy won’t recover in years. Some places might be too damaged, but overall, all have been hurt by the health and economic consequences.

Think of it as WWIII. Nuclear warfare. Basically, we have been invaded like in those movies like Independence day. Think rebuilding after that.

According to a friend, who claimed he signed a form with his school’s lawyer that would allow his school to fire him if he went into quarantine or got the virus and recovered. He said there is a law about to be passed that would allow employers to fire teachers (and other workers) if they have the virus or go into quarantine and recover with no repercussions.

From 3/24 to 4/7 Taiwan time, passengers banned from transferring in Taiwan to reduce the cross-border movement of population and the risk of disease transmission.

Why are you posting articles from far right anti chinese outlet The Blaze? Their racist propaganda is clearly meant to undermine everything the ccp has done to fight the chinese flying aids. Apologize!

That’s absolutely nonsense.

It’s not insane.

That is what I thought, but he signed the document or lost his job. Sounds like the lawyer was bullshitting to make him sign.

Why did he sign it? He could’ve gone to the labor department.

No idea?

That Hillary had a 90% chance of winning.

Hey you’re off topic, you have to include a mandatory orange man bad reference if you want to mention other political figures.

As Dr. Milker said, it shows how arrogant the CCP are. They seriously believed that people would buy their claim of a sudden drop to zero cases three days running in a country of 1.3 billion. Maybe it’s because they’ve conditioned so many of their own people to swallow any old BS they spout they now assume everyone else on the planet is the same?
