1968-2021: not wearing a seatbelt only hurts yourself. If you’re only free to do what’s right for yourself you’re no longer free.

Just because I go into hyperspace for 1 Earth week, that doesn’t mean it’s suddenly okay to repost! (The arrow one I mean.)

There would be some of that for sure (occasionally someone still complains about seatbelts), but there would also be flip-flopping from politicians and bureaucrats, corrupt deals with seatbelt manufacturers, inconsistent and illogical exemptions (which there still are – like for buses), and then suddenly a rushed-to-market wonder drug to stop car crashes (but actually it just reduces the likelihood by X%, and passengers need to take it too because it also decreases the likelihood of them fatally distracting the driver by Y%), and then a mandate for everyone to take it just in case, even if they never drive because hey pedestrians can also cause car crashes.

That one should be on the front page of Forumosa. It is still not getting through.

Agreed! Memes full of bad logic and idiotic statements may certainly ‘get through’ if promoted more.

Some of the memes made by the government in this regard are the best. They really ‘got through’ to the stupid ‘Covid-deniers/anti-vaxxers’ via heavy promotion.

It’s not technically a meme, but I think supports your point. :man_shrugging:

right in line with 3 Big Macs and a Diet Coke.

One of my favorite memes says something around the lines of you do not believe in climate change, it is not Santa Claus, it’s science.

Same with vaccines. Somehow, they became so effective, people forgot why we got them in the first place. And the downright hostility to this one in particular, with all the conspiracy theories around it, has propped all the “I am smarter than thou, I know better” attitudes to a prominent point…right in the middle of the road, blocking the path to ending this nightmare.

Again, the other meme, about being inna boat comes to mind. Just because you are in a yacht, does not mean everyone else is. And taking the cape of “but the small enterprises”, about which you normally do not care as banner to spear your ideas, is disgusting manipulation. Why? Because you cannot argue to open up, let the virus run over the poor, the unhealthy and the old, and claim to do so because the poor, the needy, need work. You want cheap services and goods, and you want them now. That’s the bottom line.
