The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (25th) that there were 16,518 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 16,329 local cases and 189 imported cases; 22 new deaths were added among the confirmed cases.
According to the command center, 16,329 local cases were added today, including 7,147 males, 9,169 females, and 13 cases under investigation, whose age ranged from less than 5 years old to over 90 years old; the cases were distributed in New Taipei City (3,240 cases), Kaohsiung City (1,907 cases), Taoyuan City (1,815 cases), Taichung City (1,742 cases), Taipei City (1,640 cases), Tainan City (1,327 cases), Changhua County (857 cases), Hsinchu County (510 cases), Miaoli County (420 cases), Hsinchu City (410 cases), Pingtung County (408 cases), Yunlin County (380 cases), Keelung City (305 cases), Yilan County (272 cases), Nantou County (267 cases), Chiayi County (249 cases), Hualien County (184 cases), Chiayi City (165 cases), Taitung County (101 cases), Kinmen County (77 cases), Penghu County (52 cases), Lianjiang County (1 case) .
The command center pointed out that there were 22 local deaths reported today, including 13 males and 9 females, aged from under 5 years old to their 90s. All had severe infections, 18 had a history of chronic diseases and 11 hadn’t received the recommended 3 or more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The date of diagnosis was from January 2 to January 21 today (2023), and the date of death was from January 12 to January 22 this year.
The command center explained that among the 189 new cases of overseas immigration today, 100 were males and 89 were females, with ages ranging from less than 5 years old to over 70 years old. The entry date is between December 25th of last year (2022) and January 24th of this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, as of now, there have been 21,475,596 notifications related to the new type of coronavirus pneumonia in Taiwan (including 12,088,927 cases excluded), of which 9,384,996 cases were confirmed, respectively 47,506 cases of overseas imports, 9,337,436 cases of local cases, 36 from the Dunmu fleet, 3 cases of aircraft infection, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, there have been a total of 16,168 COVID-19 deaths, of which 16,148 were local cases. The counties and cities where the cases lived were distributed as follows: 3,132 cases in New Taipei City, 1,757 cases in Taipei City, 1,728 cases in Taichung City, 1,602 cases in Kaohsiung City, 1,207 cases in Tainan City, and 1,207 cases in Taoyuan City. 1,196 cases, 1,049 cases in Changhua County, 631 cases in Pingtung County, 526 cases in Yunlin County, 517 cases in Nantou County, 451 cases in Miaoli County, 425 cases in Chiayi County, 333 cases in Yilan County, 325 cases in Keelung City, 273 cases in Chiayi City, There are 270 cases in Hsinchu County, 268 cases in Hualien County, 199 cases in Taitung County, 179 cases in Hsinchu City, 42 cases in Penghu County, and 38 cases in Kinmen County; the other 20 cases were imported from abroad.
The command center once again appealed that the public should complete vaccination as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene and cough etiquette, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or places with high risk of infection transmission. Actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, and remind people with sensitive constitutions, chronic diseases, fever, or respiratory symptoms that it is still recommended to wear masks in densely populated areas to jointly maintain the health of domestic communities.
