Ahem. I did a fairly in-depth analysis of the data and posted a link to the master spreadsheet a few days back. It got moved to the open thread, IIRC.

The CDC almost certainly do not have job openings for competent, professional statisticians, of which there must be more than a few in Taiwan. They’ve got the funds and the political leverage to hire anyone they want, so there’s a rather obvious explanation for the conspicuous absence of such experts.

A few of Mithrandir’s figures are off, I think (I see 7 deaths for 9-10) but for all ages in that range they’re in single digits.
