The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (13) that there were 21,289 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 21,056 local cases and 233 imported cases; 40 new deaths were confirmed among the confirmed cases.
The command center said that there were 21,056 new local cases today, including 9,658 males, 11,388 females, and 10 under investigation; the age ranged from under 5 years old to over 90 years old; the cases were distributed in New Taipei City (4,082 cases), Taichung City (2,534 cases), Taipei City (2,439 cases), Taoyuan City (2,327 cases), Kaohsiung City (1,744 cases), Tainan City (1,507 cases), Changhua County (951 cases), Hsinchu County (661 cases), Miaoli County (618 cases), Hsinchu City (518 cases), Yunlin County (494 cases), Pingtung County (491 cases), Yilan County (452 cases), Chiayi County (393 cases), Nantou County (360 cases), Keelung City (341 cases), Hualien County (311 cases), Penghu County (251 cases), Taitung County (232 cases), Chiayi City (226 cases), Kinmen County (108 cases), Lianjiang County (16 cases) .
The command center pointed out that there were 40 new local deaths today, including 27 males and 13 females, aged in their 30s to over 90s, all of whom had severe infections and had a history of chronic diseases, 30 had not received the recommended 3 doses of vaccination and 17 hadn’t had any doses at all. The command center stated that among the 233 new cases of immigration today, 146 were males and 87 were females; the age ranged from under 5 years old to over 70 years old, from the Philippines (12 cases), Vietnam (11 cases), the United States (8 cases), Thailand (6 cases), Singapore (5 cases), Japan (4 cases), Turkey and Hong Kong (3 cases each), Austria, Australia and Malaysia (2 cases each), Bulgaria, India, Switzerland, Indonesia , Poland, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and Belgium (1 case each), and another 167 infected countries are under investigation. The entry date is from July 13 to August 12 this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, up to now, a total of 15,374,706 cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia have been reported in Taiwan (including 10,499,540 excluded cases), of which 4,867,766 were confirmed, including 23,029 imported cases, 4,844,683 local cases, 36 Dunmu Fleet cases, 3 aircraft infections, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, a total of 9,413 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, of which 9,398 are local. The counties and cities of the cases are distributed in New Taipei City with 2,035 cases, Taipei City with 1,066 cases, Taichung City with 937 cases, Kaohsiung City with 867 cases, Tainan City with 732 cases and Taoyuan City. 712 cases in Changhua County, 395 in Pingtung County, 288 in Yunlin County, 275 in Nantou County, 218 in Miaoli County, 213 in Chiayi County, 211 in Keelung City, 190 in Yilan County, 154 in Chiayi City, There are 152 cases in Hualien County, 145 in Hsinchu County, 137 in Taitung County, 88 in Hsinchu City, 21 in Penghu County, and 15 in Kinmen County; the other 15 cases were imported from abroad.
The command center once again calls on the public to complete vaccinations as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene, cough etiquette and wearing masks, reduce unnecessary movements, activities or gatherings, and avoid going to crowded places or high risk of infection transmission and actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, download and use the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP”, and jointly strictly guard the community defense line.
