The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (3) that there were 23,919 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 23,718 local cases and 201 imported cases; another 32 new deaths were confirmed among the confirmed cases.

The command center said that there were 23,718 new local cases today, 10,928 males, 12,783 females, and 7 cases under investigation; the age ranged from under 5 years old to over 90 years old; the cases were distributed in New Taipei City (4,406 cases), Taichung City (2,980 cases), Taoyuan City (2,562 cases), Taipei City (2,427 cases), Kaohsiung City (2,214 cases), Tainan City (1,880 cases), Changhua County (1,009 cases), Hsinchu County (721 cases), Miaoli County ( 696 cases), Pingtung County (651 cases), Hsinchu City (625 cases), Yunlin County (584 cases), Yilan County (510 cases), Chiayi County (427 cases), Nantou County (393 cases), Keelung City (392 cases), Hualien County (356 cases), Chiayi City (322 cases), Taitung County (266 cases), Penghu County (144 cases), Kinmen County (140 cases), Lianjiang County (13 cases).

The command center pointed out that there were 32 new deaths from local cases today, including 20 males and 12 females, aged in their 40s and 90s. All had severe infections, 30 had a history of chronic disease, 18 hadn’t received the recommended 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccine and 14 hadn’t had any doses at all. The command center stated that among the 201 new cases of immigration today, 115 were males and 86 were females; the age ranged from under 5 to over 80 years old, from Vietnam and the United States (15 cases each), the Philippines and Cambodia (each case). 5 cases), the United Kingdom and Singapore (3 cases each), Malaysia (2 cases), France, Austria, Japan and China (1 case each), and another 149 infected countries are under investigation. The entry date is from July 6 to August 2 this year.

According to the statistics of the command center, as of now, a total of 14,959,806 new coronavirus pneumonia-related notifications (including 10,300,058 excluded) have been reported in Taiwan, of which 4,652,186 were confirmed, including 20,724 imported cases, 4,631,408 local cases, 36 Dunmu fleet, 3 aircraft infections, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, a total of 9,026 COVID-19 deaths have occurred, of which 9,011 are local. The counties and cities of the cases are distributed in New Taipei City with 1,978 cases, Taipei City with 1,038 cases, Taichung City with 890 cases, Kaohsiung City with 820 cases, Tainan City with 709 cases and Taoyuan City. 672 cases, 530 cases in Changhua county, 374 cases in Pingtung county, 270 cases in Yunlin county, 260 cases in Nantou county, 207 cases in Keelung city, 203 cases in Miaoli county, 196 cases in Chiayi county, 179 cases in Yilan county, 148 cases in Hualien county, Chiayi county There are 147 cases in the city, 139 cases in Hsinchu County, 133 cases in Taitung County, 85 cases in Hsinchu City, 20 cases in Penghu County, and 13 cases in Kinmen County; the other 15 cases were imported from abroad.

The command center once again calls on the public to complete vaccinations as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and wearing masks, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or high risk of infection transmission and actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, download and use the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP”, and jointly strictly guard the community defense line.
