btw, this is the sort of musical talent gracing the show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

first few times wasnt bad but like anything… once you are bombarded it wears thin. now her voice just grates on me.
A few years back I went head over heels about Diana Krall. Then she was everywhere I looked and on every other tune on the radio, then commercials, etc. I was able to see her at a few small jazz clubs in so cali before she went big and it was pure joy. When she went big-time no more small venues.
A fortunate aspect of her is that she is also a darn fine piano player and always has a smokin’ hot back-up group. This lessened the impact of her over-saturation. I stopped listening to her for 1 year. Now I like her again…in moderation. And her groups still are hot!
I hear what youre saying. I listened to the whole cd in the car, and by the last track I was “Is this gonna ennnnnnddd?”
I believe this is called the Eddie Brickel Syndrom.
But I like it for softer background moosak.
“Soul music” to put on your coffee table along with your Dido albums.
I heard a tiny snatch of Corinne Bailey Rae on the radio when her album was released in the spring, and was instantly captivated. It was a Chinese radio station and I didn’t catch any mention of her name, but the few words I’d heard were enough for me to Google to all the info about her and her newly released album. I listened to excerpts from a couple more songs, and was totally sold on buying the album as soon as possible. So I headed straight over to Eslite, not really expecting them to have the album but intent on ordering it, and was surprised to find it being specially promoted. I’ve been playing it constantly in my car ever since, and still like it as much as ever.
She’s the best new singer I’ve heard in years, and I’m really looking forward to the release of her next album.
Mrs Taffy likes her (Rae) and I just consider it a blessing that I don’t have to listen Taipop any more (or at least not that often). I’d take Dido over Jay Chou any day - it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
