Corruption at the EU AGAIN

More corruption at the EU and not surprisingly most of it at the socialist end of things. Strange. I thought socialists were supposed to be against fat catting conservatives and representatives of the common man. Oh dear. Oh dear.

BRUSSELS

Care to explain where there is a case of corruption?

I saw a documentary / report on TV while I was in Germany and it’s shocking how the system is legally, well, abused (if you allow to use that word in connection with ‘legally’).
If I recall correctly the Dutch representatives were the ones that vowed to claim only actual expenses occured, not like the British represantative that takes a cheap airline and then gets the limo service (of course provided free) to pick him up 250km away and drive him to Brussels, claiming the price of a normal ticket *).
Or those German representative that signs in in the morning and than cannot be seen the whole day.
Or the I-don’t-know-what-country-she-was-from representative that stays at a cheap pension but claims full hotel allowence.
There were “examples” about representatives from most EU countries and most of them had no “problem” to go cheap but claim in full.

Fact is I am outraged (even I currently don’t pay taxes there) but that’s something the European voters have to deal with.

*) Cheap airlines in Europe usually fly to smaller airports that are further away since they have lower fees.

Have you seen the tapes Rascal?

What do you think of those smirking German socialist Parliamentarians smirking (did I mention smirking) and laughing about how they were fleecing the tax payers? And this is LEGAL? So the abuse was not only known about but APPROVED by European legal and parliamentary entities. I would be very curious how you feel about the morality of this.

No.

Well, I am sure all of them are laughing (not only the German socialists).

Yep, that’s what I understood. We elect them and they arrange some nice (tax-free) benefits for themselves. Kind of ironic, isn’t it.

Obviously it is morally wrong and I do not approve. I appreciate those that vowed to claim actual expenses only.

Well, I guess it proves my point that most politicans are not to be trusted, their only intention seems to be to enrich themselves and prepare for a comfy retirement plan.

But Rascal:

Wouldn’t you like to start some kind of letter writing campaign to your representatives to get them to change their ways or to pressure them to do so. I mean instead of posting on Forumosa about events in Iraq that you have no stake in nor voice in you could actually do some good by cleaning up ugly abuses in your own frontyard. How about it? :smiling_imp:

1)If Rascal has a ‘frontyard’ then I think it is in Taipei.

2)Are posting Iraq comments on forumosa and a letter campaign in the EU mutually exclusive?

3)Why does Rascal have ‘no stake nor voice’ about events in Iraq? Isn’t that a bit like saying that the US had ‘no stake nor voice’ in Iraq before they invaded (maybe Rascal should invade).

4)Do you have any stake or voice in EU affairs? If not why do you post about them?

5)Quit being so silly.

Oh butt out Butcher Boy:

Rascal knows what this is all about. How many German troops are in Iraq? How much has Germany given in money or aid?

Then if it is a question of pre-emptive policies and their inherent dangers, why does Germany have one too?

If it is about Iraqi civilians far fewer are dying this year than under any given year under Saddam.

If it is about American imperialism, why isn’t anyone other than nasty regimes like Syria, North Korea, Iran and Libya worried?

If it is about religious fervor sweeping America and the dangers therein, what about the past 40 years of Islamoterrorism?

etc. etc. etc. so who is being silly? who? pray tell?

Oooh er sorry, thought this was a forum… will try not to intrude on private conversations in the future. Perhaps they would be better kept private using pmail. Apologies to Rascal too!

You’re damn right he does. Every American taxpayer does because we’ve been subsidizing the freeloaders for the past 60 years.

No need, nothing to apologize for.

fred, what’s up? Trying to turn this into an “Anti-American” thread so that you can later accuse those discussing here of being anti-American based on their participation?

Tststst … :offtopic:

Rascal:

You are anti-American. Face it. Wonder why?

Germany… France… Russia… Bosnia… Kosovo…

This is a test of the national security system. It is only a test…

No. And I don’t care if it would be true and neither do I want to hear your answer.

Find yourself another playmate. :raspberry:

Germany… evil… crab walk… nazis…

France… corruption… Chirac… UN Oil for Food Program… dying Iraqis … lack of medicine and food.

Russia… hundreds of thousands killed in Chechnya… corruption…

UN… third world basket cases vote to judge first world democracies… corruption… cronyism… no true democracies… repressive regimes… chairing human rights committees…

Input… ANSWER: America is EVIL. America is to BLAME. America is WRONG. America is the worst nation ever.

With the approach of European Parliament elections, hundreds of candidates have signed pledges to give up a system of perks and privileges that has created the damaging image of a coddled legislature.
.
In campaigns from Germany to Greece, fresh candidates and veteran legislators have promised in varying forms to eliminate travel-expense perks that have allowed European Parliament members to earn generous and tax-free profits. More than 200 candidates have signed a pledge in nine different languages with the Campaign for Parliament Reform to strengthen the Parliament’s code of conduct.
