Op ask the question for a student. Student can also do a part-time job and there are super values lessons to learn living with the minimum

We live in Taiwan, my son has lived here all his life. He went to regular government schools, not private foreign schools, so this is all based on what a local student might need to get by in Taipei.

Roommates. He is going to need that or live in the dorms.
Zhongzheng is expensive area. He would need to live either in Wanhua or Xinzhuang. That will also lower food costs.
Which university will he be attending? Taipei Science and Tech? Soochow? Minchuan?
Get with the program man.
He can share a room in dorms four in a room, cheap . Or live further out in a small taofang or whatever . No biggie loads of choices in Taiwan . Get a job in a restaurant or teashop or something it’s a good life lesson.
