U.S. CITIZENS ENCOURAGED TO VOTE

All American citizens who have registered to vote in the November 5, 2002 General Election should vote as soon as possible. Any eligible U.S. citizen voters living in Taiwan may use special courier services provided by DHL and Federal Express from September 16 through October 4, 2002. If you have not received your absentee ballot in the mail, you may pick up a form in the AIT/ACS unit.

DHL is offering a free courier service for absentee ballots. DHL drop boxes are located at the American Institute in Taiwan, Taipei office, in the American Citizens Services unit, and at AIT Kaoshiung, as well as in their central Taichung office. AIT has designated officers in both of our offices to assist voters in filling out the Air Waybill.

Federal Express will charge voters a discounted rate for this courier service, but will not provide drop boxes. Federal Express is providing this service for U.S.$ 7.88 . American citizen voters must use the Air Waybill special account number: Fed Ex 266370318.

Both DHL and Federal Express can also provide these courier services in their regular places of business. UPS will charge at the regular rate, but is also providing courier service for absentee ballots.

Remember, DHL and Federal Express will only deliver your absentee ballots through October 4.

The US Government does not endorse any particular courier company, nor does it guarantee the services offered. The services listed here may be subject to change. Please contact the courier company of your
