I currently wondering this scenario. If a person is ordered to pay by the court and he doesn’t have the money to pay, will he be put into jail or worse, deported. I’m not referring to a local, a person with a ROC I.D. I’m referring to a foreigner. What will happen to him?
Since a foreigner has to be working to have an ARC, or be married to a local, presumably s/he has income of some sort or s/he would be deported anyway…so the salary or scholarship would be garnished (that takes a separate application to the court but I understand they’re happy to issue the papers for it.) I don’t know if Taiwanese spouses would be liable for the debts of their foreign spouses but it seems likely the number of things they presumably have to sign when they get married or sponsor the spouse for an ARC/PARC.
