Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to show the task manager, the choose the “processes” tab, it will tell you what is running and how many percent of the processor it’s using, there you can see what is the using the CPU a lot, and close it down if you don’t want it.
Get a program such as Lavasoft Adaware (It’s a free download)… do a scan… your computer sounds like it might be infected by spyware/adware
that is running in the background eating up your system resources… after that’s done lemme know if the situation improves…
if not give me your system specs and I’ll go from there…
Kenneth, do you use the ZoneAlarm firewall? Older versions of ZoneAlarm tend to get “bogged-down” after a while and use a lot of system resources. The last couple of upgrades haven’t done this, though.
Do what Big Fluffy said. Make note of what file it is and you should be able to find out what program it is by doing a search on google or something (if it isn’t obvious from the file name.
I’ll bet you any money you’ve got a TV card.
