There are basically 3 main schools of craniosacral. Now in Taiwan craniosacral therapy (CST) is becoming quite popular and easy to locate through physical therapists. It’s great work which involves evaluating and treating.
I’ve studied, mentored and practiced all forms of Craniosacral for over 10 years now in Taiwan (going abroad to study with the Milne Institute and Dynamic Stillness school). On the spectrum of doing - not doing, the form I now do is the least “do-ing” of the forms, and the most surprising in its extensive results. It’s a biodynamic form of this work, sortof like LaoZi’s craniosacral. Doing without doing.
Here’s how it works.
Let’s say a person is coming in to receive a session.
They come in with their condition or their issue, it could be emotional, it could be physical. We have a brief conversation and settling time, then they lie down, fully clothed, on the massage table and I myself drop into stillness. From that stillness I am then moved to make particular bodily contacts on my client’s body. And the client will begin to undergo changes from that stillness. And out of stillness, there becomes a whole body flow. And that flow begins to take the recipient, and me on a journey. And together we go on this … really beautiful journey. Sometimes into the depths of their emotional issues, sometimes into the relief of their pain, and sometimes into the meeting of their true selves.
Yes, I know how it may sound. It’s not for everyone. And if you ARE looking for this, welcome.
And it’s quite interesting and real and at the same time every-day and exceptional. And then that is the end of the session, and there’s a conversation to conclude. Often times, and most of the time, it’s very surprising to notice what happens.
I’m based in Tainan (near Confucius Temple). It’s an easy day-trip down from Taipei (high speed rail).
Count on 2 hours of your time (after my 45min to an hour with you on the table, you may wish to wait some time before getting up). This is the kind of work which seems to attract people on the verge of very big changes. It’s almost like a chance to check in with your deepest self and re-orient to what you discover there.
There’s a very accessible application of this work, as well: FSCT (frame-shifting cranial work).
I also give individual sessions, short public introduction workshops and training in frame-shifting cranial touch (FSCT). It’s like “everyman’s craniosacral.” In a short time (3 minutes is typical) a person can get real relief from any type of pain, distress or discomfort in body mind or soul. Anyone can learn this in a 1-day workshop, and the practice is a rich one that can mature a lifetime. There’s always more to notice and learn. Usually after people have experienced FSCT what I wrote about dynamic stillness begins to make sense. I’m happy to provide introductory workshops in this anytime a group is interested and timing, etc. details work out.
Both these techniques are forms of “Stillness Touch.” The stillness touch community in Taiwan has regular practice days in Taipei and Tainan to keep current with everyone’s learning, and to learn together from the work itself. There’s an upcoming 4-day training in dynamic stillness craniosacral. It’s open to all interested people (listed in the South Taiwan events page). It’s Giorgia Milne’s 2nd teaching visit to Taiwan and we’re hoping to be a regular teaching site for her amazing work.
