Anyone else notice those sidewalks? Niceā€¦

That sort of crimeā€”beatings and kidnappingsā€”has a sort of 1990s vibe.

I guess they missed the spread of cc cameras since then.

The pepper spray worked well it seems.

Chen Yu-hao (陳ē”±č±Ŗ), one of the most notorious financial criminals in 21st century Taiwan, is back in the news. Among the many interesting details in this report, I especially like the part about auctioning off the 317 (!!!) plots of land / properties owned by this dude in Taiwan to help pay off his outstanding tax bill.

Update:

The Supreme Court today rejected an appeal by a taekwondo coach convicted of committing sexual assault and taking indecent pictures of underage girls, upholding the High Courtā€™s decision sentencing him to 26 years in prison.

26 years, hope it sticks. Does telling lies in court (ie. Changing your story later) count as additional crimes in these types of situtatiins?

Seems to me he committed purely, lied to everyone and just shows a massive fuck you to the girls the raped and abused, plus the families and society at large. Seems fucked up. Make it double.

Also curious, are these articles written by AI now?

Not what I wanted to read as we look for a martial arts spot for my 11 year old girl :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Itā€™s technically perjury, but itā€™s a misdemeanor compared to what heā€™s in trouble with.

I was going to post this but was brought to another thread lol

Spanish fugitive ordered to leave Taiwan

Heā€™s in Taiwan because Taiwan is basically no extradition with few exceptions. But Iā€™m sure some political pressure has been applied.

What kind of martial art does she want to learn?

Are there after school martial arts clubs at school?

To be honest, the kind of martial art is less important to me. I did karate, but the whole point my father put me there was the various teachers were insanely moral and ethical and 90% of everything was based on stretching, exercising, physical body control and most importantly mental control. Very little focus on ā€œcombatā€. Anyone that got in a fight outside self defense was expelled from the dojo. Iā€™m REALLY wanting to find something like this. I feel this is perfect, albiet hard to find. Teaching how to move ones body, have discipline, know how to escape a bad sitstuation etc. Best defense being escape type mind set. My kiddo being female (sorry if this sounds sexist, but Iā€™m a dad with a daughterā€¦) I would also want something with just a little harder push towards proper on ground anti rape styled reality. I took judo as a kid for a brief stint as well, which in my ignorant mind seems logical one for girls that isnā€™t as ā€œheavyā€ as say wrestling. But having looked into things since she was born (again, father with daughter, asshole dudes haunt my nightmares) jiu-jitsu also seems like a good one. But Iā€™m really open to suggestions. Probably as many other parents are. The individual gym and teacher is more important than the different styles of the arts in my opinion. Same for regular schools for us.

My main worry is I donā€™t want a superficial shallow teacher. So far this is all I have found, arrogant dudes just showing off to people and/or controlling kids :frowning: I loath that style of education so I havenā€™t signed her up.

my skill level is very very basic, I can really only influence the ethics and diligence. The skill part still need to find a good spot that understand muscles, tendons, bones and all that jazz  I assume itā€™s easier in Taipei or other bigger cities. but we need a gym in Pingtung, which so far has proven a bit grim in my own searches. I bet loads of people in pingtung (or anywhere) would also love suggestions if you guys have any. Frankly, at this point, ethics trumps methodology. Tai chi is also a good one, but lacking a bit in the female protection from predator categories which is a tough one with young girls starting to get horny  bit of a ramble, but at least for me, thatā€™s where Iā€™m coming from and what im looking for

How about Wing Chun? I know of a place that used to have a female instructor. I donā€™t know if sheā€™s still there. As I understand, she taught womenā€™s classes. But this is in Taipei.

Wow where is it? Pls send link

At least they got the sentencing right:

The total prison term of more than 300 years is to be run concurrently.
