Crosby vs. Ovetchkin

Back in the 07-08 thread k.k. (mer) and sjcma both insited that they would take Ovetchkin over Crosby on their teams.

I said they were nuts and would take Crosby hands down.

2 years later Crosby has a Stanley Cup and Olympic gold.
Ovetchkin’s got…well…he’s trying hard.
You guys still feel that way now?

You bet! Just look at the way he’s played this year. Hands down, Ovetchkin.

Filthy commie!
He’s got skill but no soul.
It’ll be beautiful when Crosby upstages him again in four years on his own ice.

Absolute excitement and drawing in fans - Ovechkin.

Building a team to win multiple championships - Crosby.

That’s if NHL allows players to compete then. Hasn’t been decided yet.

The NHLPA has a say in it too.
You think the players don’t love competing?
They’ll be there.

Probably still leaning towards Ovechkin, but the gap has narrowed some since the 07-08 discussion.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either player, to be honest, although they do bring slightly different things to the game. Depends on who else is on your team I suppose, nationalities, team skills/make up, etc.
