Crosswords

Like many of you I am sure, I do the crosswords in the daily papers. I thought it might serve us well to have a thread where we could ask each other for a little help.

For example: Today’s puzzle in the Taiwan News.

47D: Twist into knots: g_a_ _

44D: Squares, vis-a-vis quadrilaterals: _ u _ s _ _

That’s it for now.

Gnarly, thx.

Of course the answers are in todays paper. What was 44d?

I only picked up the TT today. Got blinded by the photo of you know and lost all reason and most of my rhymes.

The TT X-word was excellent today. A rollarcoaster ride of wordsmithing.

By the way Tetsuo, my word for today was “homograph”.

I’ve always wanted to know why the TT crossword is so difficult. My college newspaper crossword was difficult, fun and interesting, but wasn’t nearly as hard as the TT. How many people (in Taiwan) will actually get the TT every day for the crossword when only a native English speaking college graduate could put a significant dent in it?

When in need, I use this site:

[BTW, inputting the 44D clue came up with “subset”, which sounds right to me]
