Culture Wars Started: OK. Sen-Elect Goes After Lesbians

“Lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they’ll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue.” – Senator-elect Tom Coburn

I bet this guy is going to be the new face of the GOP. Coburn, a doctor who has a past history of sterilizing “lots” of underage girls, has apparently set his sights on the lesbian schoolgirls of southeast Oklahoma. Now, one might wonder: “What is the deal here?” but if you check out maps of the state showing which counties voted for and against him, you can see that southeast Oklahoma is nearly entirely blue, while the other half of the state is red.

He is raising this issue, these are real quotes. Although this was floundered previously, maoman has apparently missed: 1) that this information is correct; 2) that it is a genuine concern to Americans that new cultural wars appear to be erupting in the wake of a very divisive election; 3) that this guy appears to be taking the lead on the culture-war issues; and 4) he’s ready and willing to spread ridiculous information about places just because they didn’t vote for him. If this is the tone being set, we are in a lot of trouble. It would seem that his penchant for sterilizing underage girls may be a good indicator of the dispassionate will and lack of ethics that this guy will bring to the fight.

His background in sterilizing underage women is also covered at politics.hesswebdesign.com/m … le&sid=158

"OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 24 (AP) - Dr. Tom Coburn, a physician and Republican Senate candidate who is facing accusations that he sterilized a young woman without her permission 14 years ago, now says he performed similar procedures on “lots” of under-age women at their request. "

On ‘Moral Values,’ It’s Blue in a Landslide

I love this. And I guess one of the downsides of living in Taiwan. Missing out!
If anyone is laughing all the way to the bank this election year, it must be the undisputed king of the red cultural elite, Rupert Murdoch. Fox News is a rising profit center within his News Corporation, and each red-state dollar that it makes can be plowed back into the rest of Fox’s very blue entertainment portfolio. The Murdoch cultural stable includes recent books like Jenna Jameson’s “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star” and the Vivid Girls’ “How to Have a XXX Sex Life,” which have both been synergistically, even joyously, promoted on Fox News by willing hosts like Rita Cosby and, needless to say, Mr. O’Reilly. There are “real fun parts and exciting parts,” said Ms. Cosby to Ms. Jameson on Fox News’s “Big Story Weekend,” an encounter broadcast on Saturday at 9 p.m., assuring its maximum exposure to unsupervised kids.

Anyone coming from the US? Pick up one of each at Amazon.com?

The underlying theme which is not raised much is that the conservative red-states and christian evangelical Right are just as lewd and lacisvious as their immoral, gay marriage, blue-state partners. :stuck_out_tongue:

So who do you think is better in bed? Red guy/gal or blue guy/gal? :smiling_imp:

Coburn also said that black men have a “genetic predisposition” for a shorter life expectancy. I voted for the independent candidate Sheila Bilyeu. She believes that the government has planted devices in her brain.

Damn. I thought this thread was going to be about old rich guys talking a walk on the wild side.

Coburn’s ideas are precisely the ones that the Republicans probably want getting into our school system. In their hearts, I bet those old farts dream of getting down to sniff out all the lesbian schoolgirls infesting our schools to ensure the safety of America.

I bet the volunteers for lesbo-detection duty have to be beaten back with a stick.

OK, t.A.T.u. girls moment over… time for you all to get back to work.

Why is he concentrating on lesbians in southeast Oklahoma? Everyone knows the biggest threat to the stability of the US are trannies in western South Dakota. Gheesh.

Flicka, the answer is porkbarrelling. With backing from the GOP, Coburn will probably seek funding to ensure that all these Oklahoma schoolgirl lesbians get sterilized. God knows he sure likes sterilizing schoolgirls, based on his prior experience… all the funding will come into Oklahoma for these procedures to be performed by like-minded doctors whom Coburn has probably known for years.

Interesting “base” the GOP seems to be developing.

Now, hardcore Republicans have decided to go after “Spongebob Squarepants”, the popular children’s cartoon character.

Already, this controversy appears to be smacking of the bad research so typical of GOPsters. Basically, they’re all up in arms because they think “Spongebob Squarepants” might be gay. Most importantly, they think “Spongebob Squarepants” might have been in a video in which he and other popular Cartoon Network characters team up to urge kids to be tolerant of others.
The video’s creator, Nile Rodgers, who wrote the disco hit “We Are Family,” said Mr. Dobson’s objection stemmed from a misunderstanding. Mr. Rodgers said he founded the We Are Family Foundation after the Sept. 11 attacks to create a music video to teach children about multiculturalism. The video has appeared on television networks, and nothing in it or its accompanying materials refers to sexual identity. The pledge, borrowed from the Southern Poverty Law Center, is not mentioned on the video and is available only on the group’s Web site.

Mr. Rodgers suggested that Dr. Dobson and the American Family Association, the conservative Christian group that first sounded the alarm, might have been confused because of an unrelated Web site belonging to another group called “We Are Family,” which supports gay youth.
Perhaps they want to try to take on Tinky-Winky again??

However even after confronted with their error, these Republican wackos aren’t willing to back down. Following in a typical GOPster trait, they completely refuse that they might have been mistaken.
On Wednesday however, Paul Batura, assistant to Mr. Dobson at Focus on the Family, said the group stood by its accusation.

“We see the video as an insidious means by which the organization is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids,” he said. “It is a classic bait and switch.”
