Is there anyone that works in Guanghua, or frequents it much? I am just wondering about the current prices of an Nvidia GTX400 series graphics card. Maybe with no less than 1GB memory? A ballpark figure would be perfect as I just want to know if the price difference is much more than if I were to buy the card in America. For example, a current deal on Newegg was a PNY GTX465 1GB for nt$5300. I haven’t gone to Guanghua in a while, but I remember most, if not all computer parts were more expensive in Taiwan. Sometimes by A LOT! Kinda funny since many of the manufacturers are Taiwan based companies.
According to this vendor’s website they’re in the 8-9k range.

But not sure how reflective this is of current on-site prices. Usually there’s something on sale, but not as competitive as the US online vendors.
Have a look here price.oc.com.tw/
And don’t get the 768MB cards as they have a slower memory bus which reduces the overall performance of the card by a significant amount.
They will be a lot more expensive here though, as graphics cards are more expensive in Taiwan than the US.
The 1GB models seem to be going for about 6.5-8k for a 1GB model and if you must, about 6-7k for a 768MB one, depending on the brand.
If you can, wait until next month though, as AMD is about to announce new graphics cards and they’re likely to put some pressure on Nvidia’s pricing.
Thanks for the reply guys! You saved me a trip to Guanghua haha. Yeah, I was kinda expecting video cards in that range to fall at least a few thousand more than ones in America. I really wanted to play the new FFXIV beta now, but I guess it will make more sense to buy a card in America when I go back next month.
Sometimes I do question the need for these video cards… seems like you could buy a console that would play the game(s) in question without any performance issue and cost the same as some of these video cards, not including the computer that would be required to run it.
And for some reason, I decided to upgrade my laptop video card for around 4000nt rather than buying an Xbox 360… upgrading does get addictive sometimes.
