Current Status of Chinese Squabble: Language Nuts Click Here

You may or may not remember ax. He is easily the nuttiest language nut I’ve met in person (that has revealed their nuttiness to me.) If you remember ax, then you probably remember the game he developed Chinese Squabble.

He’s still working on it and things are taking shape more now than ever.

Here’s what the card looks/looked like (a new version is on the way):

Anyhow, if you’re interested in languages (or studying Chinese) you might be interested in the forums that are setup at the Spellhound site (I’ll be hanging out over there.) You’ll now have a chance to help shape the current development of Chinese squabble and other language games/Squabbles that will be made. He’s already made a version for Japanese.

Here’s the site: spellhound.com/
and the forums are here: spellhound.com/forums/

If anyone is interested in seeing a demo of the cards, I’ll be bringing them with me to Game Club every week (or so .)

Can I get a copy of Chinese Squabble in Taiwan without paying $20 USD for international shipping?

Yes, I have a few sets I kept here before I shipped them all off. If you’re in Taipei and can make it to game club, shipping would be free

Of course there are (and have been for some years) two similar version of this kind of game:

It’s still available through the original publisher in Hong Kong but I can’t put my hand on the link just now. Naturally the E-bay seller is a) charging as much as a new set and b) has no clue what it really is, but…

Yeah, ax had a copy of that game as well. There are 2 versions, one with character/radicals side by side and ones that go top to bottom.
