Curry Night IX: Saturday 7th August at Lion Foot Sri Lankan

It’s about time for another curry night, I think, so here are the details:

When: Saturday 7th August, 7pm
Where: Lion Foot Sri Lankan Restaurant
#5, Lane 13, Tianmu West Road
台北市天母西路13想5號

Getting there: [strike]Easiest way is to take the MRT to Jiantan (red line) and then bus or taxi from there (it’s not too far). The restaurant is right near the junction of Zhongshan North Road and Tianmu West/East Road.[/strike]
I recommend taking the MRT to Shipai. Just across the street to the right of the MRT station is a busstop. Take an R19, R12, or 224. (The 224 is the slowest by about 5 minutes because of a winding route up a side road and down Tianmu North Road; but it’s also more frequent). Get off at the first stop past the intersection (traffic light) of Tianmu North Road and Tianmu West Road.

Or a taxi from Shipai, which should be less than NT$100.
I went to this place last night as a test run and the food was excellent - lots of subtle flavours and very filling. The pumpkin curry and the soup were especially great. The laoban knows we’re coming and will put on a special spread, with a few off-menu items and a good number of vegetarian options. Don’t miss this one!

I really enjoyed the last one, so please add me to the list for next Saturday.

Unfortunately, the spouse is DJing for the evening, so it’ll just be me.

Three cheers for the Taffster!

Count me in. I’m so in it’s like, like, like…

Stick me and the mrs down.

I’ll confirm tonight when she gets home from work but we don’t have any other plans, so call us 99% maybes for now.

Will be so nice to see Mr and Ms cfimages again! yeah!

I don’t know yet if I can come.

Thanks cranky - I’ve updated my original post with your transport suggestion.

or the 645, plenty of those running.

Sign me and the missus up please!

Yeah! Tempo Gain! :bravo:

I have a gig down at Hengchun on the 7th, so I’ll be hanging on the beach watching the phosporescence at Jialeshui whilst you’re all gorging on curry.

Yeah, I’m not going to be able to make this one, its pre-payday/ me und Frau 500 have summat else on
supposedly
.

Let me know how it is… I like the idea of finding other countries’ food that could be classed as curry too. I’m sure there must be some killer Malaysian, Thai etc stuff around that we don’t know about.

I’m in!
I’m still bummed that I couldn’t make the last one…

:noway: you don’t know about good thai food here???

Blah! That’s what you said last time. Fader.

I know it is here, I just don’t know where. I also wonder if one restaurant could have the variety needed for a “curry night” rather than a “thai night”

I don’t know that Thai fits under my mental umbrella for these events - I had subconsciously limited them to the subcontinent, as Thai, Yunnan, and Japanese curry places are everywhere.

It would be cool though if someone (not me!) could organise a regular monthly dinner, perhaps trying something different each time. Thai, Chinese, French, Mexican etc.

The best Thai places are out in Hsinchuang or however you spell it. That place next to Sanchong.

Well that’s definitely out then, we know whose stomping ground THAT is.

Yeah, I can see what you are saying Taffy. Although I could really go for some Jamaican goat curry right now. I doubt we’ll ever see that in Taipei though.

We are officially in, no longer 99% maybes.
