Are any Forumosa users aware of the following:

  1. An LBS in Kaohsiung with a knowledgable, honest, strong english speaking sales rep?

    • my manderwaniese isnt good enough to go into techical stuff, sizing, fit, etc.

  2. Any good road cycling clubs that train hard but are a friendly bunch in Kaohsuing Area?

    • been training at the gym but need to find some people to ride with and push me.

and No, I am sorry, but i don’t know any bike shops or clubs in Kaohsiung.

so anybody know of clubs or shops in Kao? I’m really not that fast so nothing to be worried about.

Going to buy my be bike tomorrow!!! Can’t wait.

Enjoy the bike!
Many bike shops host rides and they’re often a drop-in thing. However, as has been mentioned elsewhere on these forums, these rides often involve waiting around a long time for the crew to show up, then biking somewhere to get coffee… then sitting for an hour… Just stop in at any decent-sized bike shops (not the ones that sell beaters to jr. high students, obviously) and ask- eventually you’ll get lucky! Some rides are more serious, of course- it’s just trial and error unless your Chinese is good enough to figure out clearly what will be invovled in the ride.
Honestly, I’ve had my best luck meeting people on the road- go out to some popular bike spots on a weekend morning, and you’ll find other bikers. The ones who speak English will always talk to you! I’ve had some nice rides with people I met that way.

Ehm, I am now in Kaohsiung. Zuoying actually.

We have a shop - not fully open yet, but I generally know my stuff and we have some nice things, and of course being a shop we can order pretty much anything that we do not have in stock.

Hey… Got my bike! WooHoo… Finally, after scouring Yahoo Auctions for a few months. I got a new Giant OCRC frame, spec’d with full 2010 shimano 105 groupo. I think I got a pretty good deal.

Anyway… yes, tchung, i have heard about the sunday morning coffee rides, a nice social activity, but not exactly what I am looking for. I am looking for some good training.
