Having been there, done that, I agree that this is (or can be) true, as long as she’s a better woman than you are. If that makes sense.

I have some sympathy with monkey_yuan’s point of view. The statistics are undeniable. Reality is what it is, but the “therefore” is not that all single mothers should become nuns, or should berate themselves until they die for being unlovable. It’s up to the individual not to become a statistic.

Me too. However, the argument’s not dissimilar to “I’m a lonely white male in my late 20s. Any dating advice?”. “No! Your demographic is most likely to contain a serial killer.”.

Time together is always the best way to confirm your feelings for each other. And in your case especially since most of your relationships has developed via video chat. There’s a lot you’ll have to figure out, but you should probably fly out here and see if your time together is as happy as it seems online. Just my opinion.

She can’t speak English and you speak a very basic Chinese. That will be very tough to make it work IMO.

Even though we face communication barriers,(she doesn’t know English and my mandarin is very basic) we are really connected and most of the time talk about marriage, future plans, etc. via video chat.

I’ve heard that when a couple have language barriers, their relationship often goes pretty well until they face real problems. Because, large part of their communication depends on body language, expression, tone, and so on. Both sides interpret them in a way favorable to themselves. It does not cause much problems when they don’t face real issues.

There are plenty of single moms that do an awesome job raising their kids. Usually the hardships they encounter come from judgmental outsiders (like a certain monkey in this thread), not from a deficiency in their own character or a lack of their abilities.

Not being a grammar Nazi, nor am I expecting posts to be written like English class essays, but something seems off here.

Such a narrow-minded viewpoint. Everyone is different. For example, I’d rather be with an awesome single mom who has an awesome kid, than a manipulative single party-girl or gold digger. This is not “one size fits all.”
