How do I deactivate my forumosa account?
You may not be able to deactivate. You could simply not post? Say put in a new password thats completely impossible to remember and then voila, you are history.
I’m sure if the MODS can ban people, then there should be a way to deactivate an account.
there probably is a way, did you email them with that request?
Mods don’t do that. Tommy gave the right information before. Either (1) just don’t post or (2) change your password to something you won’t remember.
To do the second, go to the User Control Panel → Edit account settings. Then change your password.
Just make several outrageous and offensive remarks on several threads, then you’ll get banned and problem solved. Why not go out with a bang? It’s a great time to tell us what you really think
that never happened to Sandman or the Chief, or even to me, so I’m not sure it would work for the OP.
Yeah, it’s funny how that works sometimes
It’s an interesting point, though.
In the UK, if you have a gambling habit you can get yourself banned from entering bookmakers. Similarly, people with alcohol problems can be barred from buying drinks in pubs. What if you happen to be addicted to typing any old shite that comes into your head on an internet forum? Changing a password won’t help with an addict. There are ways around that. IMO there needs to be some way to deactivate accounts as research shows that the internet is addictive. Duty of care, and all that.

So I guess that the whole of the UK drinks at home, then?

I agree. I’m pondering a thesis on internet addiction, I can’t quite work out suitable measures. How much time you spend? How to measure such an addiction? Hmm…
One problem is even if your account is deactivated you can still look at this site. If your peccadillo involves reading shite as well as posting shite half your problem remains. Eventually you grovel back and ask for a new password, or new identity, like I did. I’m probably addicted to this site cos Lord knows I fucking hated living in Taiwan, so have no real reason to post here. I’m sure a few folks would be really happy if I did eff off forever.
