Deafness drug

No, not a drug to cure deafness, one to cause it temporarily.

Think about it, how useful that could be. Shut one or two of senses down for a few hours. How many times have you been tired enough to sleep, just it’s been too noisy. Earplugs don’t help that much. Wouldn’t it be great to pop a pill and shut your ears off for, let’s say the duration of a transatlantic flight. Or a long train ride in China.

Why has no-one come up with something like this?

I have some. Not pills; more like suppositories for the ear canal. Made of pliable foam rubber.

They’re called “earplugs”.

Oh dear. Tommy has hacked Redwagon’s account!

I have very, very good hearing.

Got it now?

No friend. Unpossible. My password has more than two syllables.

Next time I fly, I’m getting some of those noise canceling headphones.

I used to think the same thing. Then I tried Howard Leight earplugs. Most earplugs suck. These actually work, plus they’re supremely comfortable. Accept no substitute.

Really.

A deafness drug would be cool… but what if you suddenly really had to hear for some reason?

Meh. If it’s really important, sign language will get the job done. If it isn’t life-or-death, it can wait.

I just got back from 7 weeks on the road in China and now you tell me? :fume:

Actually make that a :fume: for red as well.

That sounds terrifying

How so? You wouldn’t even hear it coming.

Hey, I gave you a pair last year when we overnighted at Yushan!

Huh? What did I do?

Er, I though the pills already existed and you are just sharing now.
