Being saved by faith is basically saying we don’t need to worry about the minor details of the law. It essentially says to be a good person but you don’t have to worry if you masturbated at 3am or watched some image.
Christians really use this line to maintain control. When the Gospel is meant to liberate, not control.
My mom needs minor heart surgery and will most likely be fine, but I’m also in the situation where no one I know has even gotten the virus, and many of them are the evangelical type that don’t wear masks or avoid crowds. Among them, only my mom got vaccinated. I’d like to visit the US and she’d like to visit Taiwan, but the restrictions make it impossible.
As to your questions, they would answer 3, 1, 1. And none of them will get vaccinated except my mom.
Doesn’t matter though as long as you accept Jesus as your lord and savior before you die. It may not be a license, but it’s definitely turning a blind eye.
When they said license to sin they meant some may accept Jesus and then turn around and become a total douche, or go around breaking stuff or killing people.
Which is of course not the intent God had in mind.
I think what it really is, is that you should not worry about going to hell for masturbating at 3am, watched some image, ate pork or seafood, etc… Basically minor points of the law and not the weightier point of the law. Those were things the Pharisees really cared about, even at the cost of actually hurting people.
I really think the golden rule is a better guide to how you should act once saved than trying to figure out if being gay or lesbian would subject you to hell because some random verse in Leviticus said so. Golden rule as in treat others how you want to be treated. The Biblical version it would mean “Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbors as you would love yourself”.
I want thousands of people to have sex with me. I want them to desire me, quite openly. So it’s okay to act like a creepy pervert towards them in public?
Yes, as Jesus said, these are the two greatest commandments.
However, I believe all the other stuff was meant to liberate you from an enslaved mindset.
For example, constant use of pornography will cause a person to look at other people as less than human: merely an object of lust for gratifying personal pleasure.
That being the case, then wouldn’t that break the second commandment of loving other people?
Science has also proven that constant use of pornography modifies the neural pathways in the brain and brings about negative changes in attitudes towards others.
Sure, the healthiest sex life is find one woman, and have sex with only her, and never even entertain pornography. Except how do we define pornography? All movies made in the last 50 years are considered pornography in the 1800s.
