Debate on Gender Quotas

Keep telling yourself that.

Do you have a real world example?

Any minority/women hire = DEI hire according to you and businesses went under because of these DEI hires

By the way, I would also like to see quotas for some fun professions such as mining, construction, plumbing, farming etc.
Why is no one protesting for this?

Equal opportunity to be in positions of power and influence. There are already plenty of women in low positions.

Equal opportunity doesn’t mean equal result. The quotas mainly are there, to influence the result. One could get the impression someone doesn’t want to play the game and do the effort needed to go from lowest to highest position. And I get it, its always talked about how everything has to be fair and equal.
But this will never be the case, just some people never accept it for what it is and build their careers on complaining and changing the rules. Thats kind of lame in my book.

How can a someone even provide results if you don’t even give them the opportunity to begin with?

Let’s get one thing clear: Nobody is asking anybody to appoint incompetent women into the cabinet. But don’t you find it a bit suspicious that the most qualified person to fill ALL of those positions ALL happen to be male? What are the odds of that?

Maybe not, but there’s always room for improvement.

Can you imagine if women still weren’t allowed to vote today? We’ve already come a long way, and that’s all thanks to all the “lame” people who “built their careers on complaining and changing the rules”.

Biden sure has

If they are a member of a party or company, that means the opportunity is theoretically there. From there on it is playing the game of politics. Ass kissing and give favors and promises to people in power, who will help you step up the ladder of the pyramid. That is also a trait. It’s not a fair or a desirable trait, but that’s how it’s played. Everyone knows that. Because it happens every day in every office. Only people who don’t want to do that tap out and cry about that. Maybe have to ask, if they are really made for this kind of positions or they only wish to be there, but not really can handle the reality of being and getting there.

Many people accept its a muddy system and they want to keep their jacket clean. They don’t desire to go there.
Has nothing to do with qualification or something.

What exactly will be improved here?

The funny thing is that many people who from today’s perspective and standards would be considered oppressed and backwards still seem to be/were happier with their lives. How can that be? Good actors?

So you’re saying we don’t have sufficient competent women who are qualified for these vacant cabinet positions because women don’t kiss ass and play the game of politics?

Well, for starters, out of the 10 or so newly announced cabinet positions, ALL are men.

Gee, I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me what can be improved here?

No idea what or who you are talking about here.

Well, why they need quotas if they can kiss as and play the game as good as men? That would mean they cannot do the same, I would think.

Only because there are more women, doesn’t mean its automatically an improvement. You have to tell me what aspect of what would be improved if there are more women.

Would you care about your open-heart surgery if it’s performed by a male or female? Of course not, so you cannot say it would be better if a woman would do that.

I wouldn’t care, but the women who are routinely passed over for the position of surgeon (or cabinet position, going back to our previous example) would certainly care that they didn’t get the job even though they are qualified.

This is about how women can benefit from equal opportunity, and not about how I can benefit from women.

Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I don’t believe that’s the reason. I think it is very far fetched to say that women aren’t as good as men at kissing ass. I believe systemic sexism is the reason.

Very timely backtracking. I wonder why they didn’t apply this same logic when appointing cabinet members.

They are the ones cleaning your MRT toilets and carrying out the shit tickets dumped in the bin, among many many other low-paid jobs on this island.

The topic here is setting policy and the priorities of the nation. All these identical looking guys as ministers . . . I dunno DPP, what are you doing here.
