I’ll be trying the furniture stores, including on Wenchang St., but wonder whether anyone has a good lead on where to buy screens in Taipei. This is what I’m talking about, although not necessarily exactly these styles:
I’d like something relaxing and natural, or perhaps rustic or ethnic art. Probably four panels.
I was going to do something similar at my last house. I checked the second hand/antique stores. I found some very old stained glass leaded panels in old window frames. If you look around, I think these can be hinged together and would make one fine looking and interesting piece. I never did actually do it but I’m sure it would be reasonbly inexpensive and certainly more interesting than store bought panels. If you are convinced that you want the new ones, I have seen them at several of the furniture stores near Costco in Neihu near the bridge.
I have seen them at the IKAT stores. There is one on Hoping East Road, between Rooselvelt Road and Jingshan S. Rd, closer to Rooselvelt, north side of Hoping. IKAT is not cheap, though.
RTMart had very plain ones, made up of three panels resembling louvered saloon doors or window shutters like this:
Thanks for the tips so far – I’ll be checking all these places out.
